My dads ashs were to be buried in a cemetery.
I thought whats the point of cremation if their going to bury you anyhow ?
I made a big stink to my sister the executor for "my share" 1/4 before they were buried. I keep his remains in a vase.
His wishes, jokingly, were to be put on an Iceberg like the Eskimos did way back when the elderly became a liability. Who knows ?

My favorite way out is like some Indian tribes who used to elevate their deceased on a bed of stilts for nature to reclaim the body and soul as it deemed fit. Prolly have a hard time with that one today.

I just never wanted to be pumped full of chemicals, put in a coffin, then in a concrete vault. A modern day mummy. I told my wife I could not visit her grave if I had a vision of her in this state. Of course her response was, 'I will visit your grave pal."

But how about this, www.beatree.com Worm food anyone.

Wonder if there may be a business model here. Send the ashes to a central location. The burial service is broadcasted on the Net. May be great for families that can't make it to a service.........Or Uncle Fred's ashes that nobody really cared about.

They discussed this on the radio a few weeks ago. Some woman called up and said how she sprinkled her dads ashes on their dinner without anyone knowing. She didn't tell them b/c they would have refused, I dont' remember how they reacted but I'm sure they were surprised nonetheless.

    Remember The Big Lebowski?

They go to let out Donnie (I think) over the ocean. He opens the jar and his ashes completely cover The Dude.

I want my ashes mixed with lead and made into as many .357 rounds as possible. I want one round shot in every ocean. One round shot in space. The rest of the rounds are to be used to protect current and future family members. The funniest thing is that I'm serious.

I carry a body donor card next to my driver’s license. After any viable organs are removed for transplant, a medical college gets my body for a year to slice & dice, then I get a complementary cremation. No cost to my family for anything. As for the ashes, I couldn’t care less. I do think being flown to the Moon might be cool.
While moving my father to a new nursing home I witnessed his interview & learn a few key things never known by my sister or me. He immediately signed DNR orders & recorded his request to be cremated & have his ashes scattered over Germany where he flew 28 bombing missions as captain of a B17 in WWII. Just in the nick of time as he had a stroke & died shortly after.
