I read in the paper that a man who has been convicted of fraud {no details other than it was an online crime} isn't allowed to own a gun in Nova Scotia. He applied to the local PD after he completed his gun training course and he was refused. Is this the norm?

I could see it being an issue if he used violence in his crime or if he threatened violence. But to ban all people who spent time in prision seems very strict.

In the U.S.A. most states will not allow convicted felon's to possess firearms.
