The "L" bracket (part of the bumber) or the cylindrical shaped one(s) part of the car?

The L bracket...it seems silver with black on top...don't know if someone
sprayed black to cover up the peeling silver

Needs to be silver (almost chrome).

The front brackets on my '72 GT are chrome plated. So are the rear brackets. I believe they are original. I placed a rubber washer between them and the recent repaint so no chips or scuffing if I touch something. Found some 2" dia by 1mm thick washers and just trimmed top and bottom to width of the bracket plus a little. Used Loctite on nuts and all has been good.

That is the way to go. Have the same set up on mine - placed rubber pads under the license plate frame and I also have a low profile "u" shaped grommet around the tail light crome bezels (helps with the scuffing)

    Excellent suggestion.

I've seen concours cars that have used rectangular pieces of rubber with the tips snipped to produce an irregular octagon making me think this was how the factory did it. Perhaps cut a used bicycle tire or something similar?

Do any concours Dino owners have an opinion?
