Any travel agents or anyone familiar with Disney Cruises? For the last few years I have been taking the family to Disney World, this year I'm thinking about a cruise, 7 day Caribbean.
    I have some questions:

    1. Can a ship keep three kids occupied?, ages 10, 8, & 6, or are they going to drive us nuts?

    2. How are other companies, Carnival etc. with kids?

    3. Is there an advantage going through a travel agent rather than calling a company directly?

    Thanks, Mark

I went on a Royal Caribbean Cruise for 7 days Dec. of 2003. Best trip i've ever been on. The ship was huge so there is plenty of things to do, and it seemed like they had a pretty decent program for kids. But if they just want to climb the wall, and play basketball they should be fine.

My Family took a Disney Cruise this past year. Being 15 I felt like I was in the main gap in their activities, not old enough to do the late night adult type things but already outgrown the activities aimed at kids. My younger family members all had plenty to do, they were 5, 8, and 11 at the time. We did a Carnival mabey 5 or 6 years ago and I seem to remember that there wasn't much for children to do so if your taking the kids your probably better off on Disney.

Why not do one of the packages that they offer, where you spend 3 days at Disney World, then 4 days on the boat, or vice versa?

Carnival is very Family friendly. Make sure you attend the activities
meeting the first day so you’ll know what going on and when.
They have continual activities for the age groups of your Children
and older, up to 17. All activities are supervised.

We’ve been on four Cruises, always took our Children, and everybody
always had a good time. Many days we didn’t see our Kids until it was
Dinner time. Then, the Kids couldn’t wait to get back to their group of
    Friends.

Mark...you and the family will thoroughly enjoy the Disney Cruises -- very family oriented, top-notch entertainment, first-class ships and service, just what one would expect from Disney.

We've been on four Disney cruises thus far (since '00), and always look forward to the next one. The kids love it -- especially all the activities that they can participate in.

We always book through a local travel agent (AAA), as they can usually provide excellent package rates (since most travel agent companies purchase up blocks of rooms ahead of time) over what Disney typically quotes on their website. You might also want to consider booking an outside stateroom with either a porthole window or a veranda (small balcony) vs. an inside stateroom (with no view) -- of course these will cost you a little extra, but your family will be happier.

They do have an off-season, and rates are lower -- but that's usually during hurricane season, LOL :D. We also get a small discount due to our Florida residency.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have, as I'd be glad to help out.
