I've been on 3 Royal Caribbeans, and 1 Celebrity Cruise, all were enjoyed very much. From chatting with fellow 'cruisers' I hear that RC is one of the best for the dollar. Of course you can spend 5 X as much on another brand (Cunard, Costa), but RC is a good allround choice. (Much better than Carnival and Disney).
when we were cruising we used costa quite a bit. they had a ship, the daphne, that was the most perfect ship possible. it carried like 400 passengers. the staff was mostly european. the ship itself was beautiful. a real classic. we used to do a 23 day trans atlantic trip with sun lines on the stella solaris. another classically proportioned ship. these new mega monsters of the sea frighten me. they seem oriented to the attention deficit types and families. that is why cruising is such a good vacation option. it really offers something for everyone.
When sailing in the late 1800's, early 1900's, the rich would pay extra to have the shade on both legs of their Atlantic round trip. Their tickets were stamped in large letters that read P.O.S.H. that meant Portside Out, Starboard Home, thus the word 'Posh' was coined to describe doing things in an expensive and or elite manner. The above is your trivia for the week.
I sure hope they pull out of their problems as it would be a shame to loose the ability to enjoy an adventure on those wonderful sailing ships...
