No, I did not go off the track or onto any sandy surface. All fours look like that.

The disks have a life span and that only if taken to the track, they only last certain number of heat cycles. The dealer says that they last the life time of the car, but that's if the car never goes to the track. < All this I know.

I heard the bill for pads and disks is around $30,000.

The rotors do not last forever. They fatigue from thermal cycles and environmental exposure. The dash calculates disk wear based on ambient temp. Vehicle speed, braking g forces and time between applications. The dash can only calculate the disk wear per axle not per rotor this is why they are sold in pairs. Rotor failure is fairly catastrophic and generally ruins the caliper, wheel and tire plus whatever damage the loss of brakes causes. have seen a large peice of rotor make it through the wheel, tire and fender. The rotors also exhibit some visual signs, that are not apparent in these pictures, when they get close to worn out. Depending on use I would consider the dash data, visual inspection but I would recomend replacement of rotors every three sets of pads regardless of dash reading. This may change depending on the environment. 430 Challenge cars with CC rotors get 1,500-2,500KM fronts and 4,000-5,000KM on rears prior to replacement depending on the track. this is typically three sets of pads. Yes the numbers are right thats fifteen hundred too twenty five hundred Kilometers.
If the car is only used for street use this will likely be well beyond 30K miles. Even with track use this will likely be over 20K miles.
The picture you are showing indicates something went through the rotor, a pebble or even rubber p/u from the track. It will likely polish itself out. I recomend you inspect for further damage on the inner surface though.

Front and rear pads Ferrari list at $1891.00 a set
    Front Discs $8504.00 ea
    Rear Discs $ 8740.00 ea

I would not condem that disc with out seeing it but OUCH.. Something got caught between the pad and the Disc

But dont feel bad, SLR discs are now $24k each (thats not a typo), but the pads are only $1500.00

I replaced all 4 and the cost was 40k. If your car has high miles (mine was 17k miles at the time), then you Ferrari wants you to replace all 4 as a set.

I took the car to a Ferrari dealer today. They have never seen this problem before and kept asking me if I went off track into gravel. I didn't.

$40K for a set!!! Are the rotors available from other sources such as Ricambi?

My dealer says that they have NEVER replaced discs on a Stradale or 430 with ccb´s unless heavily (that´s HEAVILY) tracked apart from warranty stuff.
Pad´s is a different story as well as steel discs.

    However it´s about 30-40k $ if needed.

I heard this already, lucky for us 430 owners aren't concern with the 2008 model, but with the next one. If they really keep this up then I wont buy the next one unless they make the whole replacement parts costing at least nothing over $10,000.
