Do CS and non CS use different gear ratio? When we had our cross country drive, he had to constantly stay above 7000 rpm to keep up with the rest of the group, and we were all below 5000 rpm. He keeps falling back worrying about his oil temp. He said the CS gear ratio is focused on track use and not ideal for extended highway run. This is the first time I learn the CS has different gear ratio.
Assuming your on a hwy doing 60-80mph he a CS would have to be in 2nd gear to be at 7,000 rpm's. Tell your buddy to shift!
CS Gear Ratios: 1 3.286 2 2.158 3 1.609 4 1.269 5 1.034 6 0.848 R 2.562 Differential 4.444 360 Gear Ratios are exactly the same. Per US CS and 360 Owner's Manual.
Ray- Tire diameters are the same, too, within small limits. 275/40 18=26.67" 285/35 19=26.85" So your friend is mistaken (full of crap). Taz Terry Phillips
Really? He said his gear ratio is different from regular 360 road car. Perhaps he got 360GT gear box?? We were cruising at very high speed for 1.5 hour, like driving on autobahn. Sometime we had to slow down to avoid occasional traffic but 80% of the time we floored the throttle. He kept telling us to slow down because his rpm and oil temp were way high. The others were all on 6th gear between 4000-6000 rpm, no problem with oil temp. something is wrong with his CS.....
Ray- His story does not make sense based on known facts (ratios). Oil temperature should not be a problem on any Ferrari at speed, where all the cooling systems are at max efficiency. All the 360s have a large oil radiator and it just gets more efficient the more air you blow through it. Does not compute (BS). If his car was other than a stock CS, you would have heard all about it. Taz Terry Phillips
