i know some folks will consider this anathema, but i hate my CS key. the head of the key is ridiculously large. i detest carrying keys (and do not - my office and home use electronic locks), so carrying this monster around really irks me.

yes, i'm weird, but most of us already knew that ;-)

it's so damn big that with the stock keyring they give you you can't even fold it back on top of the remote (the 355 and 550 did this nicely). so it ends up being a big bulky thing to shove into your pocket. if the remote transmitter was built into the key head that'd be one thing, but it ain't. is there some ID chip in the key head like in the benzes? i don't think so, but perhaps?

do i have an alternative? can i get a smaller-head blank and have another key cut?

    doody.

Why not separate the two so you can leave the key descreetly in the car and then you are able to access it with the remote only? That way you can just grab the key easily and not hassle with carrying it around.

i wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

you can disable the alarm with the key, though you need the four-digit code, which they wouldn't have.

also, there is really no discrete storage in the car, so you might end up inviting a broken window, etc.

I agree. The new Ferrari Key for the Enzo and the Strad is ugly and big. Looks cheap too. The 80's key were the best.

Have a word with the local teenagers in your area they will tell you how to hot wire it then you wont need a key

Doody, here's what a guy on ClubLexus.com did...if the plastic part of the CS key is just plastic, then this should be pretty easy to do...

I'm thinking maybe you could do the same, graft the actual key (metal) part into the keyfob...

I like the CS/Enzo keys. The F50 key is tiny and almost hard to get your fingers on it to insert it into the ignition. The new keys are quite the departure from the Ferrari past...

I think a regular 360 key would work. Smaller but the key is at 90 degrees to the fob.
