Supply and demand. Why is a 250GTO worth $28 Million? Supply and demand. If someone wrecks their CS it becomes less desirable to buyers. That means all the other non wrecked CS's go up in value. There are only so many. The fewer the supply, the more money it takes to acquire one. Folks are taking totaled CS's and rebuilding them and posting about it in threads here. Nobody is taking a totaled 430 and spending the money to resurrect it. Why? Because there are thousands of them out there and it's cheaper to just buy another. Therefore, I disagree with you on the collectibility of the CS. I think it's a very unique car. As unique as a 250GTO? Of course not..... Do I think I'll ever lose money on mine? Nope. Do I enjoy researching cars and buying them and collecting them? Yes. I love it! That's why I'm here. I will never agin buy a new sports car. I did that for too many years. From now on it's collectible or nothing. My posts reflect that attitude. My posts have nothing to do with you. You are never mentioned in anything I write. So if you don't like what I write, don't read it. So keep wreckn'em boys! Knock yourselves out!
I don't drive like an idiot either but I'm not going to jump on anyone that does, as I know things can go wrong. Some are related to driver idiocy, but plenty are not, and there will be a day that I'm that idiot.
To put this thread back on topic..... End of year special. Seriously, this deal is ONLY good through Saturday. My CS for $144k. Delivered to whom? But it's red isn't that a 30k decrease in value? My only question would be. Will you know if it's been wrecked? In the last 2 years the NW had 3 high profile cars get wrecked and the whole thing was "silenced" by the people that knew the most about it. Could I tell you what happened? Nope I don't actually know the extent. Do I know that one was a massive crash and the others repairable without question? Yes. Were any of these reported to anyplace that you would be able to find out? I highly doubt it. 2 were on a track and 1 on the street. Fixed exotics back in the market place and possibly no one (Especially the prospective new owner) will ever know. This is more what I was taking about Jason. 2 of the 3 weren't Ferrari's so won't be something anyone here looks at. So Hypothetically who the hell knows unless you know the car personally or have a 150% PPI from a mechanic that you know well. Possibly you won't ever know. This scares me a little out of the high end used exotic market.
So now you're agreeing with me? Why would an owner of a wrecked exotic hide it? You don't think MONEY would have anything to do with it do you?
Who finally bought this CS and what was the price it sold for? I thought seriously about it. FoNB is where I bought mine.
Let's all get along. We all share the same passion even if we have different perspectives. That's OK. Let's just not make it personal. .
I agreed that some are wrecked by guys being idiots. My point was I fear many of these things could get wrecked without you as a possible buyer knowing. Money shouldn't be a reason for someone lying or hiding the truth. One was a Lambo and one was a cgt. Both I'm sure with clean bills of health.
Holy crap, I log in and check this thread and it has blown up!!! WTF. So let me get this straight, Jason1st you believe the CS is very unique, collectible and you love it so much you'd consider "locking it up" yet you cheer when someone else's CS gets wrecked? Seems a bit perverse. It'd be akin to an F40 owner cheering when an F40 gets wadded up. Doesn't sound like an enthusiast thing to say and I already know your rebuttal to that, you'll say "I never claimed I was an enthusiast." However, you saying the CS is very unique, collectible, yada yada yada sure makes it 'sound' like you're an enthusiast versus the guy who has one just for the sake of saying he owns one. Are you an enthusiast or a hater? Listen, I would love to see the values of CS's go up in value as much as the next guy, but not at the expense of crossing another CS off the already rare (& short) list.
You posted my quotes. I'm not seeing where I "cheered". No do I see where I've posted anything that would offend. Where have I typed anything that makes me a "hater"? The only folks making personal attacks are you and H20. "Haters' can't debate based on facts so they must resort to low blows and name calling. I know you and H20 are friends and it's commendable you'd come to his rescue because he can't fight his own fights, but you still haven't proven his original point.
It seems that 2 points come into play here. # 1 Jason...I am not sure where your testosterone is coming from here or perhaps who pissed in your Cheerios? Collectables and rarer cars are always worth a bit more to the right buyer, but at the expense of someone crashing them and perhaps hurting themselves ..No Bueno Dude!! They are just metal and can be replaced. Most likely in todays market a Completely Destroyed Ferrari is worth more dead than alive with having the proper auto insurance policy in place prior to. I am not sure why you would say So keep wreckn'em boys! Knock yourselves out! # 2 People (individuals and Dealers) will continue to lie about prior history and condition of cars for as long as cars are bought and sold. I am sure we all know a 100% accurate story of an exotic car that was involved in an accident of either minor or major damage and that none of the truths are never disclosed. Sure they can get fixed, but do they ever drive the same? Not usually. That why people use this forum, ask for help and do PPIs to protect themselves. At the end of the day this is a friendly forum where enthusiasts of all degrees share information and help each other. Dont Hate .Participate  Cheers !!
I haven't been back here for a few days, but the silliness continues. H20..... I'm sure you are a good guy, and an enthusiast, but your whole statement is so self serving, and reflects your attitude more than others. Unless one has some underlying guilt about what they have and the way they use it......... it makes zero difference to anyone out in the world if you are driving a Ferrari or a Corolla. They really don't care, and frankly the only time it brings out 'in your face' jealousy, is when someone comes up to you and asks you about the car, and you act like a jerk. If I feel like going to the grocery store in a Ferrari, (and I have done the grocery run in everything from a 308 to an an F40)...... I do it. I don't feel guilty. I don't do it to show off. They are just cars. At the end of the day, its about attitude, and frankly in the conversations I've had with some people who have fallen on tough times, seeing someone out in a Ferrari gives them a bit of hope that maybe they can get things together, and that there are still people doing OK...... and they can improve themselves as well. If you aren't getting anything but smiles, thumbs up, and positive conversations when you are out there, its not the car. Back on topic, a black, no stripe 25K kilometer CS just went to Asia for $175K+ shipping and duty. Even in bad times...... the CS is doing well!
Do you have some more information about this sale? Wondering from which country the car is from and which car it is.
No one is fighting my fight. I said you were an ars for posting that it was awesome that someone wrecked another CS. I don't need back up. You are for feeling that way I don't have to prove a thing. You've done it. where in Asia? Was it Canadien I'd bet it's easier to get a Euro spec'd car to Asia and that would command some premiums. Cool it went so high. That would be a cool benchmark for value. Ingenere I can drive around my town no problem with my cars. Groceries coffee. I meant in general there are lots of areas I don't like to drive. And I get way more pictures taken of my VW microbes than any of my exotics. I guess I just have too much compassion for others around me. I'll try to change. I've never faulted Jason for his passion about his car. I'd expect no less passion from anyone who buys these cars. I just get rubbed wrong when people mistake car passion for look at me and believe me I let people know. My friends own these cars for the wonderful thing they are. Nothing else.
