What kind of prices are we talking about? Maybe the owner doesn't know about FChat or the help he could have received if he wanted to sell the car himself.
I don't think I am at liberty to disclose the exact price, but lets say any one of us with CS money floating around would have instantly jumped at the offer without even a moment's hesitation. It's been several hours since, but I am still in awe at that deal. I've been keeping track of these market prices on the CS for years because I eventually plan to own one down the road. I don't think we're going to see such a price for a clean CS for several years to come - if ever; especially if historical depreciation/stabilization trends continue to hold for this rare commodity. Three letters keep repeating in my mind: W T F?!
I talked to few others who have had both cars , there are mixed opinions. My scud's former owner had a CS. He says the low TQ is an issue and transmission is not as good as Scud. Basically his recommendation is to stay put in the Scud and its far better overall car. For me its not always about absolute performance number so i am willing to check out CS. Its going to be a few more weeks till the weather gets okay in Chicago to take the car out for spin.
Looked like a Dealer to Person sale. I can confirm tommorow. I just quickly glanced at the paperwork while chatting with the finance guy.
I've driven CS briefly back in 2010 while I was shopping for GT3 RS (ended up with RS which I sold last May to get the Scud). CS feels lighter than the Scud. Not a lot of torque (punch) under 4-5000rpm but sounds pretty intense (but it doesn't move). Car had crappy Pirelli Corsa tires that are verrry slippery (may be the alignment was off too, I didn't know the cause that time) and kind of scary test drive. Totally different driving experience from GT3 RS that I ended up buying which has a lot of grip and feels solid. Scud feels a bit heavier than CS but have more punch in all power-band. I actually do believe that claim by Ferrari about how Scuderia is as fast if not faster than an Enzo. Scud still feel lighter than RS, btw. If you enjoy driving (somewhat special modern Ferrari), get the Scuderia. You get very similar driving experience to CS with added bonus of improved gearbox, chassis and motor. There's no doubt 430 is built to be stronger than 360 in terms of design. Having said that, if you plan to keep the car most of the time in the garage, then get the CS. It's all matter of how you gonna use the car for. Part of me still want to buy the CS just to have it (along side with Scud even after that bad test drive) so that I could take it out *few* perfect weekends a year. I'll pick the Scud every other time. But, chance of having both Scud and CS for me is pretty slim at this point in life.
I'm a former GT3 owner thinking about going to a CS. My hardcore track days are over. I plan to drive the next car to the track (no more trailering) but only on a few occasions. How did you like the GT3 RS compared to the Scud? both on and off the track?
I had a 997.2 gt3 and now have a scud. In terms of overall excitement scud is leaps and bounds better. Gt3 is my all time favorite car but scud is on a different level. If I miss something from the gt3 it's the involvement of 6 speed gearbox. If you never had a rwd high rev Italian car then scud or f430 will amaze you. But there is something special about gt3 I always keep wanting one.
Just curious if you have a basis for this proposition? While the 430 had many of evolutionary changes when compared to the 360, they were basically the same chassis......similar to the 550/575 evolution.
A buddy of mine who used to be part of this rental company in Munich told me about it when I was trying to figure out which one would be the better first Ferrari, i.e, 360 or 430. As far as my understanding goes, switching the timing mechanism from belt to chain driven is one of them along with quality of CCM brakes, stiffer chassis and suspension geometry including bushings it used. He also pretty much told me how CS wouldn't do well for events such as Exotic car experience at the track that they have in Vegas etc. For Scuderia, it was no problem (a lot more bearable with cost of running). Isn't engine/gearbox refresh intervals for 430 Challenge cars are longer than 360s as well? I love the RS. I believe GT3/RS models are the pinnacle of modern 911s. Metzger engine will always have a place in my heart Wish I could afford to keep it in addition to the Scud (and CS for one or two weekend drives a year). Like vf430, there are times I miss driving the 6speed manual with that high revving flat 6 howl in the back. Ferraris are also fun tho. But, different kind of fun. If you're a true petrol head and love motoring, you must own one at least once in your life.
I'm certain this is the same car. It's now available at Chicago Motor Cars. $117k at auction is not a bad deal, curious to see what price it'll get listed at. 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale for Sale - 1654907 - duPontREGISTRY.com
so 14.5% wholesale to retail mark-up....about par for the course (12-20% is what I typically see). Still, at 134k, its among the lower priced CS's out there.
I think you got 2 conversations mixed up there. Myself and VF430 were talking about a trade in on a black CS which he witnessed at a crazy low price. Jeez StradaleLama!!! Get with it!
I was actually talking about the blue CS stokpro is discussing about. That's the same exact car the dealer bought for lot lesser than 117k.
Man, this is confusing! I was wondering what happened to the BLACK CS that was witnessed by abs as quoted above. Wonder when it will surface.
"Who picks up the ball and throws it to what. What throws it to I don't know. I don't know throws it back to tomorrow--a triple play." Clear now?

I've seen this car in person last month at Long Island Ferrari. I think they shipped it up from their other dealership in Florida because an employee wanted the car. I guess he didn't want it. Alcantara faded, drivers seat badly worn, road rash on front bumper and rockers. You can't tell from pictures. They may have resprayed
Not really.. supply and demand. Look how many scuds vs CS are for sale. Plus with only 300 CS made they should hold and continue to rise JMO.
Too bad. I have really liked that color since the beginning though. I think you're right. CS's are heading toward parity with Scuds, and will probably be priced higher in 5 years.
