I almost bought that car when it was at Driving Emotions. It had a great interior, which since has been changed.
Very unique interior and has factory stripe. Seems like it's been for sale for so many years and has gone coast to coast though few dealers but still hasn't found a home!
2 CS were for sale at Meccum. They didn't sell... what were the high bids? I didn't follow yesterday.
This was the other CS at Mecum: https://www.mecum.com/lots/AN1116-274322/2004-ferrari-challenge-stradale/ Carfax shows an accident: Challenge-Stradale.com - Ferrari 360 CS VIN 136755 "CarFax shows a report dated 2005, Ferrari of LA inspection has shown no structural damage and only signs of a minor collision at the rear end."
I watched the one on Friday cross unsold at $170. There was two more going across late Saturday but I had to dip out and catch a flight home.
So 3 CS in total for sale at a single auction?! Quite a rare occasion; and none sold. Tells you a lot about the current state of the exotic car market. Depressing; I am going for a drive!
No kidding. How come so many cars I want still have such high asking prices then? Or do I just need to wait a little longer?
I can only guess that a car which has had an accident, even if minor ( it then full clear pat above the stripe) isn't as clean as it seems...hence no sale. As for the blue car, apparently it has had several interior change...makes you wonder why and for that kind of cash, people want clean clean. These cars aren't commanding penny change, so buyers want clean traceable history, can't blame them really
I don't think the fact that three cars with well known stories (many documented in this thread) didn't fetch full retail prices at auction is anything that I would deem "depressing." Just this week a CS with 24k on it sold for very good money to a lucky Fchatter. The market seems pretty healthy to me.
I had a long talk yesterday with the GM at a major F dealer - this man knows his stuff - Cavallino judge etc - he says market in general a little soft right now with the election time of yr etc The Scud and the CS however are remaining strong but not record breaking - all will be back
Tomorrow I will fly to Milan to attend the RM Sotheby's Duemila Ruote auction, with a special interest for the Nero CS with lexan windows ofcourse The CS auction will be on sunday, but unfortunately there's no live feed this time. Will post results in this topic! CS at RM sold for €200k hammer price. €200k + 12% commission (+22% VAT over commission) = €229.280
Mike: How is VAT figured? Wouldn't 22% of 200K be 44K? plus 12% commission... 24K. That would make the all in price 278 Euros..... or am I missing something?
Thanks mike. Any idea what that is net of fees? Decently above estimate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGC2PAXIukQ&t=2s[/ame] €224.000 including fees according to RM twitter: https://mobile.twitter.com/rmsothebys/status/802886073236025344 The buyer has to pay 22% VAT on the commission fees though, so it's €229.280 in total.
Thank you for taking the time to post that video as well as keep this thread going. Speaking for myself,It has been a wealth of information and knowledge which has only made my 12 years of ownership all the better. Frank Sciacca
