as you know, I purchased this barn find CS. happy but now got a problem f1 pump motor obviously isn't turning if you open the driver door, but if you turn off the battery for a while and turn it back on, the motor will briefly turn. but still, f1 light stays on the car doesn't start at all. no crank. something simple to fix?
Could be a number of things that only a dealer with the SD2/3 can find and it can take some finding. Could be as simple as the pump motor or relay.
Do you have the remote of the alarm? Is the LED located to the left of the wheel on a LHD car solid on? Is the car in neutral?
yes yes yes and the f1 warning light is solid as well. sometimes when i was fiddling with the car, the alarm was set off although there's no horn sound, just lights flashing, but pressing on the fob button won't stop it. New battery in fob. i waited almost like 10 minutes for it to be off by itself. I am buying a leonardo single model tool today but Nick's still in bed probably.
Before you spend $8K on a Leonardo, try reading with a regular scanner. I had a similar issue and an OBD scanner said Cultch Position Sensor, and that's exactly what it was.
good advice I need to update my profile now I am proud owner of 2 modenas, 1 CS and 1 360 challenge I have a dealer around but they aren't familiar with 360s and are very arrogant since most cars they serviced are at least 2x of modena's value, i guess. nick is sending me the single model leonardo today.
Does the F1 pump turn when you put the key in position II? It seems you have no pressure in the F1 system. In that case the TCU does not allow to crank the engine because it cannot open the clutch. You can try to bypass the pump relay and to actuate the pump for a few seconds. If you actuate it for too long, you will ear the relief valve. Then, with some pressure in the sytem, try to start the car.
the only time the pump will run for like 3-5 seconds is after i turn off the battery, wait for 10 min and turn back on. open driver door? no pump run what is relief valve??
The relief valve is in the hydraulic bloc and it limits the pressure if the pump is actuated for too long (stuck relay, bad TCU, bad pessure sensor, ...). If you try to bypass the relay and force the pump to turn, you may ear the relief valve buzzing when the max pressure is achieved. You have something wrong with the pump commanding. The purpose of what I proposed in my previous mail was to force the pump to put some pressure and to see if, then, the TCU allows engine cranking. The pump is working when you switch on the battery, so, pump, relay and part of the TCU are OK. When you open thd door, can you see the "door open" symbol on the dash? Also, again, is the pump working when you turn the key to position 2? A bad pressure sensor, saying to the TCU that the pressure is in the range, could prevent it to switch on the pump. A bad TCU could also do that ...
+1 I would check all fuses, replace the f1 relay-its cheap and should be replaced as a maintainance item every 2 years. If you still have F1 light and no consistent pump - its a bad motor. If the pump runs and still F1 light then use the Leo to find error.
pump not working when turned key to position 2 I saw open door symbol when driver door was opened so let me try bypass the relay couple days later then.
sorry, it is "N" whenever i insert the key and turn to II, it beeps and the f1 warning light is solid.
car's away from me, couple days later i'll try the relay bypass and the said tcu swap eric, did I buy the cs tcu from you or the 3x remotes? i confused you with another guy I think
I can clone remotes but I have no spare available for the moment. Nothing else to sell ... except a set of hydraulic tensioners (Left and Rifgt), used, but in very good working conditions. I am cleaning my garage
