In the Dec 1999 issue of Forza, there is an interview of Sergio Pininfarina about the then new 360. This is an excerpt, and he starts with a review of the 360's predecessor. "The 355 is a car made of flat surfaces: flat in the front, the back, on the bonnet, and the sides. It is like two boxes, one over the other. The lower box is rectangular, and the upper one is inclined. The Modena is one fluid shape from beginning to end. As the top part is fused with the lower part, it all becomes this single fluid shape, not two boxes, one over the other." "We moved [the radiators] from the front of the engine to the front of the car because it is now possible to have two small radiators, thus eliminating the air intakes on either side of the body. This configuration generates a much more fluid air flow, along the sides, as well as underneath the car. When you have one big air intake up front, you actually spoil the flow of air underneaath the car. Before, when we had to use the sides for air intakes, we ended up creating huge ones, like on the Testarossa, which caused aerodynamic drag. On the Modena we eliminated this. It has perfect balance in lift, without a spoiler."
I'm so suprised so many like the CS over a 430, there are alot of people that like here car until the new model comes out, I guess that's not the case with the CS looks to be CS is gonna go down as a super classic
Hmmm.......too many CS owners around here. .....only 9 votes for the F430.........I really can't believe it. Some of you guys must be high. The F430 is a very good looking car.
I voted for the Scud because, for me, the performance enhances the visual appeal of the car. And now to put my flame suit on, I never thought I'd say this but in all those pictures in the first post, the 355 kinda looks dated compared to the others.
If someone isn't familiar with the CS and comes across a F430, I the 'WOW' button usually gets pushed. The 430 is, afterall, a Pinnafarina beauty. But situate a 430 side-by-side with a CS and I perceive a majority of people prefering the lines of the CS more. I experienced this at a track event recently. A roso corsa 430 parked beside my roso corsa CS and a lot of people came over to look at the two, commenting that the CS was better looking. Can't say how the CS would fare side-by-side with a 430S. My hunch is that if the 430S had its good looking wheel design in silver (vs. the drab grey), as well as a wide stripe containing the CS colors, as illustrated in a recent post (vs. the lousy looking grey one that comes stock), the CS and 430S would be close to equal. Having said this, because I believe the appreciation equation for most Fwannabees and Fowners is comprised of about 50% design/looks and 50% performance, the better looks on a stock CS than a stock 430S will keep the CS higher on people's want list than many would have expected.
Although I voted for the 355, which is one of my favorite cars, when it was time for me to finally get my ferrari. I only wanted a spider and did not want to deal with the boot on the 355, so I purchased the 360. I also am NOT a fan of the 430 rear. However when I was looking for my car, if the 430 was obtainable (atleast $100k over sticker and in the $325k range in April 2006), I MIGHT have purchased a 430 spider. I prefer the CS over the 430 all day long. Here is a photo of my 360 with lots of mods : ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Statistically there should be many times more 430 owners than CS owners here according to the production numbers.
Having owned 3 of the cars 355, 360 & 430, I voted for the 355, because it is the classic look of a Ferrari. The later the car, the better the car, but not the better looking is my attitude. Art
Some experts feel the same. In the Feb 2006 issue of Forza, a panel of experts chose the following top 10 Ferrari designs: 1. 250 GTO 2. Daytona 3. 330 P4 4. 250 GT Spyder California 5. 275 GTB 6. 250 Testarossa 7. 308 8. Berlinetta Boxer 9. 400 Superamerica 10. 250 GT PF Cabrio There is nothing newer than 1970's.
Thats my exact order too! CS wins...and Scuderia is a far cry from the best looking no matter how much faster it is
I like the 430 design better than the 360. So I went with Scud/430/CS/360/355. To me newer is better. I guess I'm a sucker for marketing. But this reminds me of music tastes... "nothing good after the eighties (or seventies, or sixties, depending on your age....)
Oh, did I mention that my choice would be a CS!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
