I've heard quite a few folks mention American Collectors Insurance for thier DE event track coverage plan. I filled out an application and was told that a replacement value of $200k was more than they allowed. Any one with a Stradale or similair value car been able to secure track day insurance with a stated replacment value?

    Thanks!

    ive heard ppl do this.
if they get into a car accident at the track,
they have a tow truck tow their wreck onto the nearby street outside the track and then claim it was a regular insurance car accident instead of a track accident.

I have no idea if it is true, but someone told me this was once done with an Audi that had OnStar, and the OnStar GPS system pegged the airbag deployment in a particular corner of the track on which it was driven. The story went on that the tow truck pulling the car to the nearby street was met by police cars dispatched to the accident by OnStar!

Many people might find felony insurance fraud to be more problematic than paying for the damage you did

    Well put drgek! Thanks!

Maybe I should re-phrase my original question, any one had track insurance on a 200k car without commiting fraud? :) Staying out of jail and being insurable after a claim is kinda important to me.

Some people actually just say that they had the accident on the road and don't even try to trick the insurance company. It's amazing how much people will lie like that to save $.

As long as it's not timed or a race, normal insurance coverage will be sufficient for driving on the track.

But, if their threshold is $200k, then insure it for $199k -- that's plenty enough to get a nice replacement Stradale.
