I'm looking at a CS with <1000 miles that has been on the show room floor for about 2.5 years...would the tyre compound still be ok? Thanks

Dont think its still OK for that long parking. Normally, tyre shouldnt be long lasting than 2 years or 30K miles.

My suggestion is changing the new set of tyre. G/L

I would not trust tires that have been standing that long especially at high speed. It's best to change them just for the peace of mind that when you are doing 275kph they don't fail on you.

If the car wasn't prepped for storage, (increased tire pressure, remove wheels/tires, or suspend car off the wheels) then yes I would replace them.

A tire that's been in service, or under load for five or six years should be replaced regardless of tread depth. Cut a year or two off that for vehicles that are not garaged during the day. Additionally after 2.5 years of non use I would expect irreversible flat spots.

But if you are looking at a car with that sort of mileage it is possible you too have no intention of driving it in which case there's no need to change them

The car has been moved around within the show room a number of times, and has been out for very infrequent test drives so it hasn't been in one particular spot, would this change you views on the need to replace?

Is there any method to actually testing the quality of the tyre?

Is that the one at CCS in AKL? Lovely car and well priced/specced I think.

Probably the original tires which means 2004. You can check the code on the the sidewall 4 digit number in a small oval. ie 3204 32nd week of 2004. Outside of tread might be a little hard which in a Stradale means power on oversteer if pushed too agressively. Suggest a nice warm up and about 50 miles before you push it real hard if that is your plan. This tire is very soft anyway. 60 treadwear number. If you are doing normal driving it will be more than fine.
Suggest 33 PSI front to help protect the rim and 29 in the rear. Also if it has never been aligned since new that would be a very good thing to do. Have fun these are amazing cars. Welcome to a very special club.

Thanks Ducati, appreciate it...haven't brought it yet ;-) If we do find agreement then under my ownership it will be getting 80% track use and reasonably requent sessions so maybe it's best just to replace if they would be in doubt at higher performance limits...just seems a waste as they have hardly seen any tarmac
