What is the difference between the CS and normal 360 exhaust system that gives it just a distintive note? Is it related to the by-pass valve and when they open or is the system different? Can a normal 360 be fitted easily fitter with a CS exhaust?

    It can be done.

Attached is the video clip of the exhaust note. My understand is that the 430 exhaust is the same as the CS.

Yes--you can order the CS exhaust for your 360 its called the "Race Exhaust". The can is smaller, which causes the exhaust to be louder at idle, etc.

I just had a stock 430 Exhaust system installed on my 360. The can fits straight on but the tailpipes have to be modified a little bit as they are wider than the normal 360 exhaust. The 430 can (box you see when back lid is open) is the same as Stradale--difference lies in tailpipes.

The video above is a stock 430 exhaust fitted to the 360.

The 430 exhaust of the 360 is quite loud at idle as it sounds just like the 430--mine does at least.

From examining the parts diagrams it seems to me that all exhaust gasses pass through the silencer box of on the standard 360. When the valves are closed only the two inner pipes are flowing gasses and these are of a thinner diameter than the outer. When the valves open all four tips are flowing gasses.

The system on the CS is much the same when the valves are closed but it seems to me that when the valves are open on the CS system the main flow of gasses never enters the silencer at all and instead pass straight out through the tips bypassing the silencer altogether.

As advised it is absolutely possible to fit the CS system on the 360 but they are very rare and hard to find. Obtaining and doctoring a 430 set up is probably the easier and more cost effective way to go but it does require some cutting and re-welding of the tips.

depending on where you are, for example in switzerland, it is illegal to fit the cs pipes to anything but a cs. actually, the cs is homologated here, but they still give people tickets for the noise pollution if you run it in race mode in town, ask me how i know :) . the cs was the last car that will ever get homologated with a standard exhaust sound at this level.
