Has anyone else noticed how far and smoothly their 308 will glide when taken out of gear? There is one intersection on the outskirts of the city where you have a very long (around 750m) view to the traffic lights (which invariably turn red as I come into sight!) and I can take the car out of gear and roll (speed changes down from 100 to 80k to 60k closer to the intersection) pretty much at traffic speed, up to the lights even though there's a very slight grade up. I noticed this some time ago and have been testing other cars and none will roll any where near as far or smoothly. Any ideas why this trait? Is it a very smooth drive train (ie low friction), the extra inertia of the rear engine pushing the car forward rather than weighing it down? For the locals, I'm talking about the run up to the Beams Rd intersection at Carseldine coming south.
