In Midwest, having a major done at the Ferrari dealership. Quoted $18.5k for the major service - 55 hours

First time having to pay for the major (I've done belts myself in the past) - leaking camshaft seal and I didn't want to mess with the motor.

From history around here I always thought a major was around $8k. I'm sure I'm missing something, but what are the going rates that others are seeing?

Just had a major done this week, but am in CA. Pricing came out to just under $11K. Included, belts, tensioners, new water pump, engine mounts, all fluids changed, spark plugs but they also had to service transmission. Ill post more specifics later if you want.

That’s just nuts. 55 hours? That is full engine rebuild pricing. 90% of the time it’s a leaky valve cover and not cam seals. I’d use an independent shop. I’d just do it myself if it were me. These care are extremely easy to work on.

If you have it, the detail would help a lot. I’m sure you could spend 55 hours doing work on a 25 year old car, but what are they doing in that 55 hours and is it what you want them to do?

I saw a quote once for an engine out belt service on a 360, and it was not a poorly maintained car.
