It may not be the same car but that is a serious gap in price. Did the market really go up that much? Or did the first car need $100,000 in corrections? Or is the second car overpriced? Or....?

Looking at past sales on Ebay, the only TR/TR512's that have sold were the Exotic Motors white TR for $189K and my cars twin (with higher miles) at $89K. Marshal Goodman and FoxyRoxy cars keep getting relisted over and over.

Maybe they mean 171 miles **with the odometer connected**.

Looks pretty bad to my eyes. Check out the mouse turds all over the top of the engine!

That isn't dust in the SN area - it is ROAD GRIME.

Why all the Al corrosion!?! Left outside in the rain!?!

    RUN Forest RUN!

Same here as well. Did you see how many impacts the front spoiler has? It must have been hell of a 171 mile ride... The spoiler is also missing the tow hook plug, he probably lost it while plowing the asphalt.

Also, the guy barely had it delivered and first thing he does is changing the shifter knob to some hot rod one?

    Something is fishy.

    Heres my take,
I would not doubt the car was hit early in the game
It appears as if It sat in body shop with bondo dust accumulating for many years
Possibly in a tropical environment where moisture and dust worked to deteriorate all surfaces
Perhaps south Florida, maybe coconut grove area, right off A1A
The original owners insurance company did not want to pay for the repair and a mechanics lien was placed on it
Years and years of litigation proved unfruitful for either party.
The original owner passed away and the benificiary son in law paid the lien off 20 years later and did a quik hose and rag wash and consigned it to auction

Btw a used condom was discovered in the glove box which proved to be the original owners dna
Along with assorted love letters to a women named esperanza.
The wife is sueing the son in law as she was sterile at that time and never used condoms with her husband
    Right!

If someone listed the 512TR on ebay for $500K then the $300K looked cheap - lol

Lol nice, that`s sent shivers up my spine, I hope it`s not a general Testarossa owner trait - as I put my Pizza in the glove box the other day!

It was wrapped up though, so I shouldn`t catch anything!

Still a good result for that black one (compared to a year or two ago anyway) - but what a stunning looking car for $145k!

I know the miles is the attraction of the the red one but - 1/4 million dollars....

Well I guess if you have that money to spend, then refurbing it won`t be such a big deal!

Still, I would have thought it`s actually harder to find a black mint single bolt car than a red delivery mileage late model car.

I read the 400 miles Countach QV went for something like $460k - only double the price of the 171 Miles Testarossa. Ok I know it`s a FI, side-skirted car (but probably pretty rare because of that) - but looked mint condition all round compared to the Testarossa (on the pics anyway).

The gap seems to be closing - well with some models at least!

    Dom.

The Bonhams car sold today for a quarter of a million dollars almost on the button. In the lot description it said

As offered, it would be suitable for any collection of great Italian sports cars. If its next owner wishes to enjoy its superlative performance on the highway, a thorough recommissioning with replacement of all consumable parts would be advised.

Without knowing much about mechanicals, does this mean, thank you for buying our car, and if you want to use it, please buy another one? I am all for cars as art, a Testarossa is art, but...

Well you can buy half a cow at an art fair for a few million..

Sorry, if the new owner is reading this. It is an ultimate Testa after all.

This market rush is getting exiting. I used to say that a TR would become a half mil car someday because they are so beautiful etc, maybe I was right.
I called Exotic Motors Midwest out of curiosity today and they said that the White on black 512TR for 189k did sell.

Like in any fast rising market there may be a few cars that are still at yesterday's price. In Switzerland for example there have been some TRs that are starting to look cheap. No idea what they are like. I guess their prices will go up as soon as the vendors Google..

550s seem to be going up crazily right now also. It's a bubble if everyone is buying to make money, not to use, right? Why would so many people be buying cars now at 30% more than last year when they didn't buy them last year?

    Are there any economists here?
