Hi, just spotted this from Artcurial the other week (Nov 1st): https://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/results.asp lot 145 1991 Testarossa, Red, LHD, 14K miles. Sold for 133,500K euros. Dom.
You won't find it in RM's results for September. But here is your "in the wrapper" Testarossa going for $206,000 USD. 400 km on the odometer. Fast forward to 1:28 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7B2Oc8yiFI
I believe all cars, not just tr's or Ferrari's, historically have and always will drop heading into winter. Spring will be the barometer of trends for all cars in 2016. winter...buy spring/summer...sell It's been this way as long as I can remember, old news I know, just reminding everyone that winter pricing does not indicate real market values. Think about how cheap you can buy any convertible in the winter vs summer.
Exactly. I see some TR's coming back into the $120 asking range and thats fine. I actually went to the car wash yesterday.....many thumbs up by passing motorists.
Wow, how cool would it be if you could walk into a Ferrari dealer and still buy a brand new Testarossa. If they still made them now in 2015 they would sell millions! If I was rich I would buy that and use it every day just as if I had bought a brand new modern car. Black too - just amazing.... Dom.
Another TR at a bargain here, 88.5 black with 46k miles he is asking 70K '88.5 Ferrari Testarossa Black
From the ad: "With a fresh major service and a reupholstered dashboard, this will be a $110,000 car, and that value will only go up from here!" I always get suspicious with statements like these - if that's all it takes, why isn't this guy investing the 10k to profit an additional 30k (40k - 10k)???
He likely realizes that the statement is exaggerated reality but sadly an excepted one considering the large group of F car dreamers looking for an entry level exotic.
I'm surprised the ad didn't end with "my loss is your gain." Seller seems fully aware of the current market conditions.
Also at that previously mentioned RM sale in September: 1985 Ferrari Testarossa | London 2015 | RM Sotheby's That's about 165k $ - with 45k miles.... Even the higher miles ones are getting snapped up now. Dom.
So "the large group of F car dreamers looking for an entry level exotic" DO NOT ACCEPT the fact that the statement is an exaggerated one, since it is excepted.
Agree. Did you see the engine bay pic? Doesn,t look good. And the interior looks like a patch work. Something is wrong...
In the used car market it is largely true that with a small investment and some effort on ones part you can find good cars under market value then sell them as very nice cars for profit. I don't want the large group of F car dreamers to believe that a cheap Ferrari is a good buy. so when someone says that its an easy fix yet they do not wish to do it themselves it is most often a farce.
Thoughts: interior carpets dont match (behind seats and floor), strange button on drivers torso side bolster. RE the engine; I see a crappy picture but.......the orange vent hoses look bright as well as the heads and spark plug wires. A good detail would make it shine. No VIN in ad combined with no phone number and out of the way location are not favorable to selling a car. I get daily alerts of TR's for sale. You would be surprised at how many scam ads are out there. I have seen fchat members cars for sale (for sale meaning scammer ripped off pictures here) a couple of times over the last year. Its kinda of comical now, "Oh member X is selling his car again for a third of its value, this time in Missippi!"
Did anyone note what the low miles TR in Austin hammered for last weekend, at Motostalgia Auction??? it had about 5k miles since new, a 1990...IIRC.
Don't buy any tr listed over 100k at the moment. Hold out if you can. I have a bad feeling prices are coming down. The fed is going to be raising interest rates (so the say) hold out for now. That goes for any big purchase right now. Must say this..its just a gut feeling.
Thanks for the incredible, prescient insight. We have our own oracle in our midst. Who knew? 😃 Sent via itty bitty electrons
