I dont personal put much weight into miles, but to deny the market does would be ignoring facts. Doesnt seem to matter if the miles are real or not to the people paying the premium.

I always get amazed at how miles impact TR values. Isn't it supposed to be a GT car? Aren't GT cars supposed to eat miles for dinner? Yet you see cars with 40k miles being dismissed as "too used"...

The reason why the seller is holding is because he believes the market is flat...just like the rest of the collector market. He believes as do I, the market will rebound in spring. The 89 anniversary Countach just sold for near 400k Euros. This was a jolt to the market and has sent the Countach market up again.
As for my personal dollars, I put my money where my mouth is. I have a 91 Testarossa in super pristine condition. I won the 12 cylinder class with 46 k miles on it. I now have 64k miles on it and drive it as a daily driver along with my lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.

I have come to the conclusion that Ferrari owners don't drive their cars, they just look at them and wipe them with a diaper, like Cameron's daddy did in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Low miles is a collector car disease. I was myself cought in it unwillingly. I drove my Testarossa a LOT less than I would have like to. Car was in my opinion very clean and fairly low kilometers and I was affraid to affect the car's quality in the collector market putting in too much miles and put stone chips on it.

For these reason if I ever buy another TR it will be a higher miles car in not so great condition to make sure I will enjoy the car as much as I want because it will allready be a not so collectable exemple but STILL a Testarossa.

SO......... If you're looking to buy something to LOOK at, buy a nice low miles car in perfect shape and stare at it in the garage. And that is OK if this is what you want.

But if you REALLY want to enjoy a TR buy a nice driver even if it has a bit more miles and enjoy it. Don't do the mistake I did.

I think Frank's car is right in the target for the best of both world. All sorted and still very good looking but with enough miles on the clock not to be affraid to use it.

LOL Uh.... Hagerty's 2016 retrospective came out and guess which car is #2 in their list of 'losers'?

"The Testarossa was one of the hottest cars in the market one year ago. This is due in part to its favorable combination of being both a modern classic and a 12-cylinder Enzo-era Ferrari. Things have changed, however, as values have flattened, quoting activity is down for Testarossas, and the model hasn’t been performing as well at auction."

Thankfully, I don't suffer from the collector disease lol
I bought my Murcielago Roadster as a garage queen collector car that was even in the Lamborghini magazine. It had 10k miles on it and less than a year later it now has 19k on it. I still won a platinum award and best in show at the Celebration Exotic Car Festival....rated one of the top 5 prestigious car shows in the world.
So, why all the bragging? I'm trying to say miles doesn't kill a car....it's how it's maintained.

i agree with you 55k is where that car is ,especially there could be expensive surprises when major gets done.

    $55K??

I must need to spend more time watching these prices. Can they come down more and maybe I can get okay one for $55K soon? Not fixing for major?

Why stop there at 55k ..... Heck shoot for 20 .... You posters need to aim higher in life and stop settling.

Personally, I prefer the go to zero.

Obviously the above is sarcasm but still Seems to fit the general feeling of the Testarossa market currently. It is amazing to me how large the swing in value of things we do not need or concider to be art.

I was just at Cars and Chronos in Southern California - all new Ferraris, Porsches, McLarens, and my 86 TR. Other than Jay Leno and his P1, my 86 got by far the most attention - from the hipsters to us middle aged folk. I realize the values have come down but the cool factor still remains.

It seems like the only ones worried about TR values are people that don't have one already.

No matter it's value the TR will always get attention. It has a unique look nothing else have. The wide flat look from the back and the side strakes are unmistakable. Worth 40K or 400K will never change that.

Yes they will be a 50k car..if not less. It's just a matter of when. Times are changing and faster then any of us think. It is not just the tr that will be effected. It's across the board.
