the 296GTB is not in production...expectation set last summer was for April-June this year, first USA delivery probably +6 months after, so, if 'only' a 2 year wait (For USA order), that indicates demand is low, i.e. only 1 year production has been ordered (+7 months after order books opened)...which corresponds to what I have been hearing, one major complaint is the car is unsuitable for tall persons (battery placed vertically behind seats decreases available cabin length)...and, I would not be surprised if initial European deliveries are delayed until next year...

That 488 was $550,802 original MSRP and it is a 'zero mile' car (56 miles), it "lost" money from msrp, quite a bit...

    That’s a very very high msrp for a 488 that’s not a pista

There is a nice 2015 2900 mile 458 Spider on BAT.
I predict $298k, taking off $20k for the wheel/ext color combo, too similiar imo

I just got out of an F12 and went for a 458 Spider. Always had a dream of owning big V12 front end Ferrari...and bought the best most beautiful F12 I could find. But..there was no magic, didn't really want to drive it, as had other cars which rewarded me more when driving them. In the mean time, I loved how the 458 is aging, and started to invest more time in researching them...actually to find how positive people who OWN them are about the 458. The Spider increases usability because the roof can go off...and for me this now is the ultimate driving machine to attack the alps in this summer on a long weekend trip with the misses.

With regards to future values...I can't see how someone could keep an F12 in collection...I would always prefer the 812 (GTS) as it is such a much better car. I can see however you want a 458 in the collection. NA, Pininfarina, and just one the most gorgeous designs ever made by Ferrari (better than 488 and F8). So my take is it will hold value best or better.

Inflation will hike up new Ferrari products, the rest is hard to predict, but my guess is that of the non-special products the 458 is the future one to own.

Very much looking forward to the summer now!

Bought my 458 CPO for $159k from a dealer with 2 yr power warranty last year right before the market went mad. My same car with similar miles is now going for close to $200k.

I don’t ever plan to sell, but good knowing my 458 has done better than the S&P 500 this year.

May I ask what year and how many miles that you purchased last year with that price?

I have a 458 coupe that I want to trade in for a Spider and have been looking at Spiders online for around 6 months now. Many of the ones you see online have issues (accidents - some listed in Carfax, some not) or 5+ owners....which is why they are cheaper and not selling. Well taken care of cars with good records are still getting top dollar. I bought a 488 spider last April for 269k (MSRP of 390k). Not sure what it is worth today but I know it is more than I paid!

Pre-pandemic, what would the sale price have been on this spec? $125k-150k less? Unreal.

Lots of great advice- and that is the correct advice.

But I will present my own reaction- which is distinguished from someone who sat down and played with all the data.

I think prices are never going down on a nice 458. The reasons why are many but here are what comes to mind:

    * They are not making any more of them- and they are a level of fun that’s very rare to come by.

    * They are aging very well and still relevant to the supercar world even today- 12 years after it was first introduced to the world.

    * Inflation/ even if its not as bad as we think/ or if it is! / means a value holding steady is actually not the same in real terms-

    * Its a 458

Certainly go into a big purchase with eyes open- but I think a 458 is pretty safe. Just one man’s opinion.

Wouldn’t the all in on the 458 spider on BAT be 340,000? 335,000 plus 5000. A remarkable sale, wouldn’t have guessed that price.

Unless BAT's changed something. you're right the MAX commission is five grand.

Great looking car with really low miles. BUT this is kind of a game changer- car sold for 30K OVER new price. Are 458 Spiders going to start appreciating like the Ford GT?? A lot more of these cars built. I look at the current values and think this is really something, but why sell a car that's just an event to drive.

I saw this too! You can get a 488 Spider with Warranty in resale red for roughly the same dollars. This just isn't sustainable.

But if you agree with Hagerty’s, the 458 is the one to have.

Wait ... what? A 488 Spider pulled $460k? What was MSRP on it? Do you have a link to that auction?
