Apologies if this has been updated somewhere on F-Chat and I missed it.

I am trying to get original color info on my 77 308 for a repaint. I have tried doing the registration on the Ferrari site as has been indicated as the way to proceed on some older threads, but this does not work for me. Has anyone actually gotten info from the factory for their older car in the past couple of years?

Yes, through the classiche service, but you have to pay to have them.

    Ciao

Okay. Thanks. I guess I'll just have to do a best match possible and go from there.

    Will,
Do you know what range of color you should aim at? I mean: Blue(s), Gray(s), Black? Have you looked at the usual places like inside of the doors?

$300 each, but you get a nice letter.

Yes. My car was a Pozzi Paris delivered car that eventually was repainted resale red. It was originally some metallic blue...lighter than Sera and darker (perhaps) than Dino. My restorer says Chiaro, but Chiaro was not a (blue) color on 308 GTBs in 1977 as far as I know. Also, lately, I have seen 77s in Acapulco, so I would like to stop guessing based on the blue exposed during the take-down to bare metal.

Okay...through whom can I order that report? Go to a dealer and show them my title and ask/pay for one?

The dealer requests the letter. You have to provide pictures of the car including engine # and VIN or chassis #

Have you tried Pozzi themselves? They MIGHT have something; they do not always have for cars sold in the seventies, but who knows...

    nerofer is right,

IF the work has been done by us, they have invoices. And they usually send copies to owners on a simple request.
That is was they did for me.

    Good luck

Will, have you taken the door panels off? Maybe you can find a swatch on the car still in original paint. Or, have you looked around for a 70's Ferrari color wheel? That also would tell you what colors where available.

    George:

Yes, I have taken them off and it only makes it more confusing as the blue visible on both inside doors is so close to Blu Dino Met and the blue around the fuel door is darker...I thought Sera. And with my very highly respected restorer, whom I trust saying Chiaro...I just now want to see what the factory says and move on. Thanks much!

Did you try lifting the 'paint flap' on the driver's side frame top in the engine bay?

Under it is the car's original color.

    Ferrari's little 'Easter Egg.'

Interesting that the Ferrari letter "Vehicle Production Data" is $300 in the US. In Germany they are asking more than double!

My 84 Euro QV does - that's the flap covering the code that, iirc, we're not sure what it means! ;)

I believe that you are referring to the sequential production number. Mine is 241.

On my dry sump the assembly number is on the oil cooler mounting point and is not covered with anything...it's black like the rest of the frame there. I sanded that back slowly to reveal the blue underneath which is still anyones guess...between Dino and Sera...but guessing.

I went to Ferrari of Tokyo and they had no idea what I was talking about concerning the Vehicle Production Data. Didn't know what it was and didn't know how to request the information from the factory. They were more than happy to Classiche certify the car though.
