I have to leave my car unattended for a few weeks and I know there is a cut off switch for the battery some where under the hood where my battery tender is connected. Anyone have a photo of where the switch is exactly?

No photo, but mine is under the removable cover/panel (with the two large thumb screws) on the right side of the front trunk. It's a round knob marked "on" and "off" with an arrow (or arrows). You can't miss it once you pull the cover.

Thanks gents, I suspected that knob, but wasn't sure. Happy motoring!

Don't forget then when you reconnect the battery you have to start the car and let it idle for 10 minutes or so to allow the ECU to relearn everything.

    Is that really necessary?
I admit: I didn't do it. Didn't notice any problems.

If you don't it may cause idling issues as it will need to re-establish the idle parameters...at least that is what the owner's manual states. Good ideal to read the manual, there is a lot of useful information in there. ;)

It is actually worse that this. After you reconnect the battery, you key the ignition on, and then wait at least 30 seconds for all of the electronics to find themselves again. If you don't you can mess up the servo motors that control the A/C-heater.

Then start the car and let it idle until the radiator fans have cycled (off-on-off) at least 3 times.

Pefectly stated process ^^^^ - Unfortunately no power where I store my cars so use the battery switches just about every time I put them away. Been following this process on the 355 for 2+ years and never an issue. Doing the exact same thing on the TR. FWIW I also always hit the AC compressor STOP button after the cars are shut off and before putting them away and then turn it back on after the car has idled and warmed. Maybe overkill but seems to work.

    Cheers!
