I'm relatively new to the this forum and am close to closing on either an '02 or '04 575. anyone have a good sense of what an '02 with 7,000 miles or an '04 with 8,000 should trade for both privately and with a ferrari dealer. Also, any sense of the ease of re-sale with or without a tubi exhaust. lastly, any color feed back on tdf blu or blu nart? lastly, what are delaers payign for '02's or '04's on trade these days? thanks in advance for your help/advice..

There are so many threads on 575 values, I won't actually touch that part of your question except to say, everyone here agrees that a 575 is worth between 100k and 200K depending on particulars :)

Tubi's should not affect the value of the car (+ or -) but is often considered a selling point. The dark blues are very popular for the 575, always in demand and often hard to find (but not quite demanding a premium). TDF and Pozzi are the most common blues. NART Blue is quite unique for a 575.

appreciate the quick response. when you say nart blu is more unique on a 575 is that advantagous as a selling point or detrimental?

Well, depends on the buyer-- the Ferrari market can be fickle. I would buy the car you like and not worry so much about resale. If you like the NART better, go for it, NART is a well thought of color.

IMO, there should be no price adjustments for either color.

i found an '04 575 nart blu, with 7,000 miles on it, with tubi, gps appliance and the fiorano control ecu. dealer asking 152k but very tough to know if the right price or not. The main reason I ask about re-sale is this is going to be my first ferrari, I love the 575 but I might prefer something else in ayear or two and want to buy a car I will both enjoy and be able to sell if I need/choose to in a year or two. your comments are valued and very helpful. thx. what shoudl the price differnce be for two nearly identical cars but one an '02 and the other an '04?

All this is just my opinion, so take it for what it is :)

The price delta between the two is hard to say given just year and color. Maintenance records and service history, F1 vs Manual Transmission, Fiorano Handling Package (FHP), Modular Wheel Options, interior packages (carbon fiber, stitching, etc...) plus obvious things like condition, eye appeal (no talk on interior color, NART and pink interior may be a hard sell), and so on all play a roll in value.

$152k for an 04 does not seem out of line to me. Whatever you do, absolutely make sure you have a Pre-Purchase Inspection done by a mechanic who knows Ferrari's (even if car is at a dealer). Go to the regional sub-forum where the car is and ask for PPI shop recommendations.

Honestly, buy what you like the most (even if it has a pink interior), you will be happier that way.

    Best,

The blues are all very attractive. Buy the car you want. That way you will love it and don't worry about resale too much. After all you will have had an experience you will love.

    Go for it!

    + good luck!

Opinions may vary, but in terms of resale and enjoyability you should consider limiting yourself to cars with the Fiorano Handling Package, around here also known as FHP if you search. I have tried both, and it is night and day. Some would argue that the standard suspension setup is widely regarded as an error by Ferrari. I am in this camp.

Also look for modular wheels, which are hard to come by. The tubi's you can buy easily, so that would argue that they are not a real important decision criteria. Some also complain about the low rpm tubi sound, claiming the high and low rpm trade-off was not well engineered. X-OST seems to solve this issue.

Services are essential, as remarked above.

2002's have depreciated more than 2004's as they are older, which would argue that there is less downside if you change cars in a year or two. Mechanically, they are identical, but cosmetically there are minor differences such as '575M' on the trunklid, etc. Price-wise, the 2002's are maybe $25K below a comparable 2004.

Lastly is F1 versus manual. Buy what you prefer, as both have advocates. Color also, only avoiding distasteful or poorly selected interiors (which there seems to be a lot of).

    Good luck.

i never thought it would be so difficult to determine the right prices for these cars. If a dealer sells an '04 with 6k miles on it for 152k, what do you think they paid to take that car in on trade?

Unfortunately, just about impossible to answer that...
    1) was service up to date? Did the dealer need to invest $ to fix/maintain anything?
    2) what was the car traded on? a 612? a 430 spider? Will effect what the dealer gave as trade in.

First of all I decided I really wanted the 575M F1 after a lot of research. I looked at about all the cars that were available at the time before buying. I became aware of all colors, factory options, desirable aftermarket items, mileage conciderations, and production year differences. It did not take long to find the car that was perfect for me. I was lucky I guess. Looking back, I was so glad I did not have to make compromises on any thing I really decided I wanted. My advice is find the car that has the least compromises for you. What year 02-05? The model year to me would not be worth making compromises for. As said, there are not any real differences between the years. A car around 10k mi. or less made sense to me. A detailed history, maint. records, and a trusted PPI was a must. The car was bought through a reputable source. The fact that it had just had it's first major service completed was a great bonus. Heavy option cars were desireable to me because not much premium is involved for the second or third buyer. These of course are just my opinions that you might find helpful.

Sounds as if you only want to own the car for a year or two in which case I say lease it and be done with it once the lease expires. There's no use tying up the cash if you don't want the car for the long term anyway. Just my opinion.
