When disassembling my half shafts for a clean and repack, I noticed on removing the first CV joint there was a conical washer on the side opposite the snap ring, so made sure to look for it on the other three. Except on one joint it wasn’t there! Not hiding in the boot, simply missing! The joint itself seems fine enough, I just need the washer. I can’t find a part number in the parts manual, and not even sure if this can be ordered separately. Might someone have one laying about?

What are its dimensions: OD, ID, thickness, and height? Spring washers are standard enough parts that I’d expect that part to be available from an industrial supplier somewhere (although maybe not quantity one).

And I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find it used in other cars of the time…. It sure looks like the one from a Fiat X1/9 CV I took apart a while back.

Compared to the ones I've found so far on the industrial parts websites, it has an unusually small OD relative to the ID. Looks like some Porsches use this part as well, but still am unable to come up with a part number to search for. Worst case I can buy a complete Porsche 944 CV joint kit that includes this part for about $70 plus freight :(

Yes, the CV joints are shared with various Porsches, but it’s not clear which ones used the spring type washer. The P car suppliers I looked at also don’t show the washer in their parts diagrams.

I did find a 944 boot kit ($14) that appears to have the correct washer and ordered one, fingers crossed.

Id call Rutlands, Ferrparts, GT Car Parts, places like that and see if they have some used ones or, new possibly. Just because there is no factory part number does not mean they don't have a supply of them.

They get lost a lot because many when replacing boots are not as observant as you and they fall off in the process.

Awesome. Looks like the exact part. Thanks!

Spent a bunch of time on the Pelican website, obviously not in the right place.
Snap rings I've found, as they are pretty standard.
