Hey chatters, How much wear is acceptable in CV joints . . . they have a bunch of slop (rotational . . . like a few degrees) on my Pcar but someone told me not to worry about it 'til they start clunking. I would hear a "groaning" on long hard turns on the track . . . thought I ready somewhere this could be CV joints but it could be the diff I guess also. Fcar ones are snug . . . Pcar has seen many track days. Thanks, Sean
Brian, When I have it up on a lift, I grab the tire in one hand and the drive shaft in the other and rock them back and forth . . . there's no slop rocking the tire in and out "trying to change camber or toe in" if that makes sense. I had the CV joints apart before when repacking and could see the wear . . . should there be no play in the CV joints at all? Thanks, Sean
Hub carrier bearings can make a great deal of noise without being loose. CV joints should have little play at most.
