i have relatives in Atherton and friends in the surrounding area of Innisfail. All are well and accounted for, although friends homes in Innisfail have sustained major damage........ was a monster for sure but the emergency services planning was outstanding, only a handful of injuries. The issue now is that the industry was driven by the Banana and Sugar Cane plantations, which also lured alot of backpacker looking for work, so the blow is twofold.
The property my brothers sister in law is renting,lost its entire roof. After the roof had blown off, she gotta out of there with her 2 babies and a short while later,a large tree came down onto the roof and damaged the roof truss's But she is ok,just a little freaked out about the roof flying off and the noise
