I noticed the engine running rough after a trip to the gas station. The Launch X431 indicates P0306, cylinder 6 misfire. I swapped the #6 and #5 coils, but the misfire didn't move. What's the next logical step I should take?

A Ferrarichat check indicates people reporting instances of multiple misfires, but I couldn't find an instance of just one cylinder. Previous responses for multiple misfires indicate that they can be caused by vacuum leaks, spark plugs, coils, exhaust leaks, fuel injectors, fuel pressure, and evap leak. Which of these would target just one cylinder? The spark plugs only have a couple of hundred miles on them. I never top off fuel.

Any experienced insight would be appreciated!

    First confirm the correct cylinder
.driver side 2 in from bumper

Remove plug and examine it for fouling

Use a spark tester to see if coil and low voltage is working

If all checks out ..next would be fuel injector .

Recently had this problem with misfire codes on both banks. New plugs fixed it.
I suspect they were original to the car. 19 years and 28K miles.

If it’s a 430 the gasket between the block and headers may have deteriorated. Cheap part expensive labor fix.

My 430 misfire(s) were caused by a leaking intake manifold gasket. As stated, cheap part, expensive labor. A smoke test found it and after replacement of gaskets,no CEL's. My labor wasn't too bad as I had a local indy who had some Ferrari experience fixed it in a day.

I want to turn over the engine without fuel being injected. Does anyone know if I should pull the fuel pump relay, or the Motronic fuse?

Pull fuel relay .. remember if there is pressure still in system you may get a few revolutions

More then likely an intake leak. Injectors rarely fail but anything is possible with the age of these cars now...definatly worth checking.

Use smoke test or just spray some air intake cleaner around cylinder 6 intake runner while the car is idling. You will hear a change in engine tone and idle smoothness if the gasket leaking.
