I was just thinking that now you have broken the seal, how about placing the engine inverted on just that head in a container of kerosene oil mix. This would get in behind the studs and soak from the outside in.
I'm just thinking that although it has released it may bind up again and now the heads are further down the studs care must be taken with uneven loads on them. Although I'm sure your bloke knows what he is doing to get this far.
I hope if I ever have to do mine they are not frozen on like this.
    All the best, Bell.

Yes I will be back over there at the end of the week and will take pics of the whole setup. I will also suggest the soaking in kerosene to see if that helps.

He is definately being very cautious as far as applying even pressure as the head continues to travel up the threads. The goal is not to apply any lateral stress or pressure, and keep it even and equal as it goes up the threads. One positive aspect of this is that although we still have not attempted anything yet on the other head, at least at this point we have the tooling and the process identified to get it off and moving....my guess is that the other one will only take 4-5 weeks at the most to be removed.

    Pete,
any more pictures on the plate? I'm in the same position with my engine and would like some more input on this.

Not dissimilar to the issue with the Jaguar XK engine where the studs and head corrode together to create a difficult to breach unity. On those engines two techniques are used, one to remove the studs and the other to use brute force, either with hydraulic jacks between head and block, or lifting part of the car just by pulling on the cylinder head. All seem to work nicely.

    Hey Freelapl,

Hope all went well with the final part of your head removal. I am about to undertake the same issue so I was wondering if you might provide a few pics of the head plate and some dimensions if at all possible?

    Thank you so much!
