Can anyone confirm the cylinder numbering for the 550, is it right front =1, right rear=6 left rear =7, left front=12 ? where "right" is the passenger side on a US car. Regards, Ron
Are you sure? You can see a label numbering on the coil bank that seems to imply what I said first, but even this is ambiguous. Regards, Ron
I checked mine it is all covered and it is hard to say which wire goes where. I called ferrari delear, they do not want to answer the question, how about that. I checked parts manuel and service manuel, neither one numbered the cylenders. Possiblly you are right, # 7 is at the back. I have to find out too.
This is what I found for you. Page B18 in workshop manuel it says. Note: The cylenders are numbered in a U shape begening from the right- hand cylender bank. good luck
Thanks for all your research amd effort so are we agreed my original numbering is correct, it is in a U shape beginning with right front. You would think such a simple thing would be well documented and easy to find, eh? Thanks again, Ron
Yes you were right. # 7 is in the back and # 12 in the front. By the way what you were plan to do. You ever done belt chang on your 550. I am planing to change the timing belts in few months. If you are done, could you kindly email me step by step. Thanks. Sark.
Dear Sark, Sorry I wish I had a step by step instruction but I am not due to try this for another 20,000 miles. I do remember an old Fchat thread which had a good step by step sequence. Found it , it was by Jack Russell racing on 02-26-2006, 04:08 PM...I see you were in on the dialog.... "With tremendous hesitation, I post the attached document from the 575M service guide. This is NOT from a 550, and I defer to Phil/Brian/Tom to explain any differences between the 550 and 575. (There were, if I recall, some substantial updates to the tensioner system on the 550) (Nervously) -Daniel " see attachments with this thread. You will need the Staeger tensiometer or the modern Seem digital tensiometer Hope this helps a bit, Ron
