I never got why this Dado and his turbo M3 is getting so much attention on different forums. A 700hp turbo M3 is not a uncommon sight over here. Maybe somebody can enlighten me about why.

Turbo M3's are few and far between here in the States. His motor was built for and is capable of 1000+hp but he is 700hp at low boost - which was applicable for that small drift course.

Is this supposed to excite me???? Never could understand drifters. Is that because they cannot control a car and drive it quickly instead of burning all the rubber off the tires. Where is the competition in this????

The actual sport of drifting doesn't do much for me but it's really impressive the control these guys have over the cars- especially turbo cars as they come in and out of boost.. I've met Dado several times on various runs- cool car, nice guy..

Drifting is not racing by any means, it's more of an exhibition sport like something you would see at the circus. It's just another lame automotive fad that will soon die out.

Correct. The sport of Drifting as we know it today, started in Japan almost 30 years ago. The vid I posted is from a practice, not a race. Races are held in much higher speeds at longer sanctioned race courses (tracks). It takes a skilled driver to hold the drift correctly without spinning out. The direction of the car in the turn is controlled by the throttle, not the steering wheel.

Of course you'd say that, as someone who is trying to get people to go to a wreckless driving website. Can't even properly fill out a profile. Boosted M3's aren't really uncommon, and seeing them wasted sliding around cones is lame.
Drifting is pretty absurd, even though it might sometimes be interesting to watch well engineered cars. It's certainly not racing.
And this coming from someone with an M3, and who produces high end parts for drift "teams."

I don't think the personal attacks are warranted in this case. I merely posted a vid and fact in response text, not personal opinion. You only publicly emphasize your insecurity by speaking to me in such a manner.

Boosted M3's are more uncommon than non-boosted ones. Point Proven. Thanks.

Drifting isn't the best thing, but I know many very competent drivers who will do it for fun occasionally. There are a lot of people really into it, which I dont get, but I still like it. I love E36 M3s too, my brother is getting ready to supercharge his maybe.

Nice vid, that car is crazy fast! I personally dont drift like this but i love doing it on a race track in some of the cars that i own (Subaru trackcar etc).

    Nice side exit exhaust too!

    Cheers

Drifting seems kind of strange since the cars are actually going much slower than if they tried to control the speed and keep the rear traction. But it got a really bad introduction to the masses with "fast and furious Tokyo Drift". that kid could not follow anyone's advice. He should have just gone and lived with Sling Blade.

Dado added the song to it.. I thought it melded well with the footage. It is from Chris Daughtry (American Idol). I will ask Dado the specific song title and get back to you. Thanks for the compliments.

The song is called Breakdown from Chris Daughtry. Myspace is good for some things I guess.

I've been there a couple of times before. It was fun & cool, but I'm kinda over it at this point. I've got nothing against it, I liked it when it was new & fresh here in the US, & most people didn't know about it. Now I guess it's too mainstream for me?
