Hey! Joined up because I was interested in some opinions. I recently got the opportunity to get something new to add to the garage as a daily. I’ve been driving a 1200 whp GTR for a few years but it’s time for a new car. So I was wondering if a 570s would be a better choice compared to a Gen 2 R8 V10 or a 991 GT3. Love them all but was wondering if the 570 would be able to do daily duty as well as track work. Thankfully I have dealers for all around me and connections at all. I think the GT3 would be a little rough to drive so often, depends how far you drive, but it will be a monster on the track. The Audi is more low-key than the 570s and their extensive dealer network will be good for servicing, but I don't think it will be great at the track. Ultimately, I think the 570s is the best option all around!
Thanks for the advice! Is the GT3 really that much harsher than the 570s? I know it’s supposed to be much more track oriented. And I know the mclaren has a few more glitches, and I’m fine as long as their not catastrophic, but does the maintenance shoot up if the dealer knows you track the car?
Well I haven't driven a GT3 for an extended period of time, but I believe @Rob Lay owned one and he said the ride is very harsh! Now he hasn't driven a 570s to compare (that I know of), but I would assume since the McLaren is not specifically track focused, that it is not as harsh of a ride And I wouldn't worry much about maintenance costs going up based on knowledge of you tracking the car, but whatever you do, do not tell your insurance company!!
Good to know. I’m leaning towards a 570s or an R8 gen2. Is there any tips or knowledge I should know about heavy abuse on the mclarens. My drive to work in the mornings has roads where I can get up to 100+. And are there any options on a 570s that negatively affect track work. I try to get a track day every other week, so it’ll be seeing plenty of road course.
With the 570, even the shortest of straights will have you well into triple digits. I have a 'track pack' car and it is brilliant on the track. There isn't much I can't run away from, on road or track. And it has been bullet proof. Not to mention I never get tired of looking at it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good to know. There’s a lot of GT3’s here in DFW and need to know I can beat up on them on the road course. And it’s nice to hear a track guy who’s not having issues. They’re stunning cars. What’s the difference with the track pack, I was thinking of picking up a non track pack and getting some upgrades for the track since they’re cheaper.

I own a 2nd Gen R8 RWS and now looking to get a 600LT soon. R8 is a perfect daily and is pretty much bulletproof. A great blend of comfort and performance sounds amazing and is really well insulated. Mclaren 570S obviously looks more exotic. I test drove one and felt that the steering feel was lighter and had more road noise compare to R8 but handing is a bit sharper than R8. 570 s is also faster compared to R8.
