I would have had a ton of great pics to add to this thread...but i forgot to borrow my friends didgital camera. One guy i just met (hes neighboors with one of my good friend/classmate) took me down to visit the air natioal guard base he is based at. After meeting some pilots, he took me into one of the planes (C-130) that was in a hangar for maitenance. Then he took me to the engine shop to show me some of the turbines that were in for maintenance (he used to be an engine mechanic is the AF before becoming a flight engineer for the guard). He's taking me back soon when he'll have more time to show me around. I wont forget to bring a camera.

This storm moved in and looked like "Independence Day", but no ship came out of the clouds, dramatic though.

Um, Canon Digital Rebel ... Lens was at 18mm, F/22. ISO 100, 30-second shutter.

I would've liked to have taken the shots in RAW mode so I could later play with the white balance, but was running out of time and rushed everything. The forecast is for thunderstorms for the next 8 days or something like that so I'm getting ready now to take some good ones. Gonna get the RC-1 wireless remote so I can turn off the damn 10-second timer (was trying to avoid camera shake) and attach my polarizing filter so I can run in bulb mode and leave the shutter open for a minute or so at a time (going to play with exposure a bit). I should have some really great ones in the next week as long as I get some good thunderstorms at night.

Hehe, no, unfortunately. I saw it when framing the shot but thought it was on the mirror so I didn't worry about it. The preview LCD on the back of the camera was too small to make that spec out, so I only discovered it after I downloaded the images. Found it on the rear glass of the lens. Always happens.

I was cleaning my Elan 7 about 2 years ago before a vacation to Mexico. Cleaned off the mirror, compressed-air the shutter, went over the 3 lenses I was bringing with a dedication bordering on obsessiveness. Anyway, my brush/air-squeegy (sp?) had lost one of it's brush needles on the backside of the mirror, got caught between the mirror and the mirror frame or something. Anyway, framing the shots I couldn't see it, but when the mirror would flip up out of the way to take the picture, this thing would be hanging down right in the field of view. Had some gorgious shots of the Puerto Vallarta countryside (built into the side of a mountain), some great National Geographic-quality shots of "real Mexico" a few miles outside of PV, and of course stunning photos of the then-GF, now Wife in a two-piece ..... except for that damn straight black line in every friggin photograph. My wife still laughs but I get really upset just thinking about those photos.

Its not really a picture, its a screen shot. The screen shot is not nearly as sharp is it is on my screen. Resizing it also ruins the image quality.

The first one is my amphibious Maule on a runway in Homer, Alaska. The 2nd one is an amphibious grand carivan sitting at a dock in alaska before takeoff. Both the alaska shots are add on scenery i downloaded from various sites. The 3rd one is a super decathalon performing some aerobatics over chicago.
