Cool, I didn't know. And as for the last statement, the letter F is more expensive than say Z. Ferrari cars are more expensive than Zenith T.V.'s. Also, Is Markus Ruby a legit company? http://www.markus-ruby.com/about-us.htm A friend bought one and after looking on the web I'm not so sure about them.
looked through your online catalog...I couldn't stop drooling. Beautiful watches, you have a sweet gig !!... ...that F. Muller Crazy Hours is HOOOTTT.
With all the talk about large watches, what is this? I stole the pic from Ron in the racing section. It's MS at Indy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Used AP hands down. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the Daytona, the fact that it's a 6,800 dollar watch that sells for 10k doesn't help. Audemars is probably in a league of three other watchmakers that Rolex can't really dream of being in. The craftsmanship of anything out of AP really isn't worth comparing to a more mass produced Rolex. Also, everyone and their mother has a Oyster Rolex. Show a bit of individuality. It might not be too easy to find a used Safari, they are still really new. A new one wouldn't run too much more than a used one. It would be hard to find one, even used, that is the same price as a Daytona though.
Neat watch. I bought a Maurice LaCroix a few years ago for myself and ended up giving it to my girlfriend, I just really didn't like it.
Pure "fashion" watch. I haven't heard of them either. Judging by their site, they just make watches that look close to more popular watches. Look at the "daytona" they make as attached. Also use quartz movements, so not really a fan from that point alone. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've heard this term before--fashion watch. What does that mean? And I've never got the disdain some people feel towards quartz. How anyone could think an automatic, which is by nature less accurate that quartz, is somehow superior, is beyond me. The only advantage I see to automatic is they have no battery.
Fashion watch meaning: The watch is sold more based on how it looks than it's movement. A watch with a quartz movement would fall into this definition for me as well. Sure you'll be hard pressed to find a mechanical movement that is as accurate as a quartz movement. It's not really about that though. A good way to describe a quartz watch, is a watch without a soul. It's bascially a few parts and an IC and battery. A mechanical watch is all about the sum of the tiny pieces that come together to form something amazing. Must be why a lot of car guys like watches as well.
I don't have a disdain for quartz watches. I've got a few nice automatics (ranging from modern wrist watches to a few rococo and Louis 16 antique pendulum clocks). I end up never using them though, not even when I wear them. When I need to find out what time it is, I just look at my cellphone. -Peter
They are a lot more work than a quartz watch or a cell phone, even more so if they are hand wound. I keep my automatics on a winder when I'm not wearing them, so they will always be correctly set. Except for changing the date sometimes when the watch thought the last month had 31 days. I don't hate quartz watches either. I've bought a few for my girlfriend. I thought she would like the no hassel operation of a quartz watch, but after I bought her a vintage hand wound rose gold IWC from the 40s, that's pretty much the watch she wears most. She even sets and winds it every time she wears it.
I'm not a big fan of gold but rose gold is something really spectacular. My beater is a Breitling with a rose gold bezel. It really makes the watch. -Peter
Does the platinum oyster rolex always come with a polished bezel or is it available with a fluted bezel as well? -Peter
Peter-- Do you carry or have access to the Patek Philippe Celestial or a used Audemars Offshore Skeleton in Platinum or Stainless? If so, at what prices would you be willing to part?

Update: I was just told by my Panerai person that the watch won't arrive until October - November, hopefully before the holidays. They were in N.Y. at a Panerai/Ferrari training session. They didn't get to see the watches, but instead learned about them through a slide show.
