i had a similar experience here in st. louis. i went into a little mom and pop store that specializes in fancy watches, and basically flat out told them that i was just looking around, that i am very into watches and just wanted to gaze and daydream, but the girl working behind the counter, who i assume was the owner, graciously took time out her schedule and answered all my questions, even letting me try some on. all it takes is some integrity, and people always seem to appreciate it.

Hell no! With that kind of disposable income, I'd invest in a 355! :)

The store was at the Venetian, but I really don't remember the name. They had a TON of watches though.

It's Horologico or something like that. It was the best store I could find in Vegas. Roman Times kept trying to sell my girlfriend a watch, I finally had to tell the guy what I did and I could buy it at cost to get him to leave me alone. Also the TimeDome store was a joke :-/

Nobody else picked up the "Time of Day" . In a watch store! Brilliant, I was almost in tears.

What does a UN Freak look like. I love watches but I am hoping to move into the Rolex/Omega/Breitling crowd, so the Pateks and the Ulysses are a pipe dream. One more promotion for me and I told my wife I will be getting one of the Omegas on your site. Peter, thanks for being a part of this forum.

I have a really stupid question. Does the Tellurium J Kepler Limited watch tell time? It is an amazing watch but I saw no second or minute hands in your picture.

    Peter,

I am looking to pick up a new breitling.

I have been looking at this one, right now it belongs to a friend of mine, he has had it in a case.

This is the only picture i could find, i dont know if this picture is even an authentice one, but this is the breitling, with the tourbillion. And its hard to tell from the picture, but the face is black with this yellow coating on it. It's very interesting. And it looks exactly like this picture.

But what would you estimate its value at, unworn, in the case, with all books, papers, etc.

I know this pic is probably a replica.

But what im asking is my friend has an authentic one. So what would the approximate value of this watch be as of today.

How am I supposed to answer? The picture is of a fake and I don't think there is a real one that looks close to that. If the other watch looks close, then it is prob. fake too........

Unless you provide many picts of the "real" one and a model number, it's going to be hard to help you.

Well, actually i didnt ask you, if you would have noticed I addressed it to Peter. I know he is an authroity on watches.

    Sorry for your trouble.

And dont accuse people of having a fake watch when you have never even seen it, and are not sure of whether or not that model exists.

This is the only Breitling Tourbillon (called the Mulliner Tourbillon) that I'm aware they have made. It was introduced in 2005 at Basel, produced in quantities of 1-2 per month to special order for the owner. It is intended to be specially customized at the time of order to the owner's specification and will usually have the owner's name engraved on it.

This means if you want one, you will need to contact a Breitling dealer and start the ordering process. The price will depend on what you spec. The value is indeterminable because there are so few of them, it is Breitling's first (they have no rep in tourbillon's) they are so personalized and they are so new. The only way to establish value on this kind of watch is through auctions over enough time to get a baseline.

IF your friend has a real one then you should ask him directly how he got one and just follow in his footsteps. Given the recent introduction (Basel 2005), ordering process, normal custom watch fabrication times (very slow) and the production rate; I would guess that there are less than 10 real ones in the world today in owner's hands.

If you had intended that only Peter respond, then you should have sent him a PM. This is an open board.

Well, the watch doesnt look like those, so i dont know maybe it is a fake, and he got screwed over.

But i would swear on my mothers grave that its a real one, i mean. I have 2 Navitimers, and they look, weigh, feel, tick, and generally are exactly the same as the one he has. So i dont know, i will check into it, and maybe take it to a high end watch dealer in my area before i buy.

Let me ask you something, have you ever priced a tourbillon before? If you don't think $30-40K for an AP is worthwhile, then the price for a Breitling tourbillon should leave you in tears.

    LOL

I have a 1/25 in platinum and a 1/100 Breitling in RG..... I also own an 18k and another titanium Emergency. So, I know a little about Breitling.

I still think the ROO 18k is high!! Though I do like the Pride of Russia....

I will say it again, if you want to be sure if your friends watch is a fake, then go to watchuseek.com Breitling section. Those guys will not pull punches. There are a lot of fakes and they do the best job spotting them.

    But, you didn't ask me........

The only Tourbillon Breitling makes is the one posted above. True, you have to go through a dealer to get one... or you can have us go through the dealer for you to save some money ;)

I don't know if I'd buy a Breitling Tourbillon. They really aren't known for their prowess in movements. I'd also think that the resale would be terrible on a Breitling Tourbillon.

You're much better off getting a Tourbillon from A Lange & Sohne, Vacheron, AP, Patek, or the like. We've actually sold a 10 year Lange & Sohne tourbillon for a good deal over what it was new... and the buyer couldn't have been happier. :)

For a mid ranged watch, a Breitling is a good choice. One of my partners, Arthur, is about to pick up a Bentley 6.75 with blue dial for himself. He just wears overly large watches like the AP ROO T3 though.

Sorry for the late reply, my girlfriend wouldn't allow me to get on the computer last night :(

    Thanks,
    -Peter

Tourneau is huge, but I just didn't like it. Just like I haven't liked any other Tourneau I've been in. The reps are rude and don't know what they are talking about.

After we talked to a few people there, even my girlfriend said they didn't know what they were talking about, and she's by no means an expert.

It seemed like they just rushed you from counter to counter. They did have 2 IWC Grand Complications, which I've never seen in person... but that was about it.

Bingo! It's fitting the pieces of the puzzle together that makes the picture...not just having all the pieces in one place.
