It sure looks like it, Wade..

You followed the thread in the Texas Section?

It was a fatality, although the female passenger survived.

I am told be some that a normal constucted car; steel unibody crumples thefore is safer than a CF built car( which theoretically shatters ).
Looking at these photos, and thinking of the Enzo wrecks ( CF tub ) that many have survived in, causes me to think that Ferrari owes it to the community to step up and produce the V-8 car in CF.
    Lead the way Ferrari.

Wade, the other thread is back on Page 2 of Texas Section, out of respect I didn't bump it.....

The pictures there are taken at night but the car was broken as depicted in your salvage yard shots, you could run the plate and see if it matches the Obituary posted there, to be sure.......

Man, the way that guy hit, it could have been made of Unobtainium, he'd still be dead.

As a Porsche mechanic chided me once when I was upset my steering upright snapped off and broke the casting..."They don't engineer cars to hit things, they engineer them to run fast!"

Open cars add another layer of vulnerabilty, as well.......even with chassis stiffening.

Sorry; I just dont buy that.
A carbon fiber car would have stayed togeather protecting the occupants.
As an example look at Kubicas wreck. Totally unsurvivable in a Monocoque or tube framed car.
I can guarantee this wreck had less forces involved.

Sure, but Robert was wearing a HANS device. As a race driver yourself, I'm sure you would agree that the helmet/HANS alone could easily make all the difference in a wreck like this or Kubica's. Kubica certainly wouldn't have survived without the helmet/HANS.

Jeez, that guy really packed it in. Of course it caught fire. USAA insurance will have a pay out on that one. RIP and hope the passenger recovers OK.

PS - Where's the reference in the TX section, I checked and can't find it?
