I’m going to be flying into DFW this weekend for a metal shaping event at the Gas Monkey Garage and I’ll have some time to kill Friday and Sunday.

Any recommendations on some cool things to do? Barbecue? Ferrari things? I’m open to any ideas.

    Thanks!

    My priorities in Dallas are:
    Breakfast from Original Pancake House
    Italian at Campisi's
    Ice cream from Braum's
I think you have Chuy's in FL but I like their Chuychanga with Tomatillo sauce
Lots of Churrascarias (Brazilian steak) if you don't have those at home

Maybe catch a concert at the Mort Myerson Symphony (their concert hall was designed by IM Pei, the interior of the building is worth a look at least)
The Adolphus hotel downtown is old school nice and The French Room used to be fine dining, but now I only see their Tea menu :(

If you like science museums the Perot has some cool stuff but there are tons of kids on the weekend.

    Thanks all!

I’ll be pretty busy Saturday but I’ll have a lot of time to kill Sunday and a few hours today when I arrive.

I’ll make sure to squeeze in what I can. Definitely the barbecue :D

( Ask for Steve in Service )

    #2 Hard 8 BBQ - Coppell

#3 Joe T Garcia's for lunch or dinner , then over to the stockyards if you have time

#4 If you could break away Saturday is Italian Car Fest in Grapevine

GMG will be interesting, ask to see their TR collection and ask about what they have planned for each of them...

Your use of the word interesting, I suspect it is the same as mine. And as for the TRs I am quite sure I do not want to know.

Agree on the Hard 8. If you're going for BBQ in the big city its pretty good.

Best BBQ places from a local:

Hard 8 in Coppell as Steve said, or The Colony
    Pecan Lodge, also mentioned.
    Terry Blacks downtown/Deep Ellum
    Ten 50 in Richardson
Cattleack BBQ in far North Dallas, only open until 2:00 on Saturday.

Javier’s for dinner - Mexico City Mexican food, it’s a Dallas institution. You’ll never have anything like it. Try the Filete Cantinflas.

Check out the area around the Sixth Floor museum where Kennedy was shot. You don’t really need to go in, there’s a X on Elm street that marks where he was shot and you can see the grassy knoll.

The Dallas Museum of Art is a good one and you’re an artist. Also the Nasher sculpture museum you might enjoy.

Thank you everyone for the help. Unfortunately they had us scheduled from 7am-7pm yesterday and we started today again at 7am. Had to catch an early flight out so I’m already at DFW. Never had a chance to experience your great suggestions

Did talk to Richard about the TR’s :D They have five of them from a movie set and a big old box of parts/takeoffs including the engines.
