Hi Everyone. I'm Josh, I've been looking for a good Ferrari Forum for a while now and think this may be the one. I don't have a Ferrari just yet, maybe one day, but am anxious to learn about these incredible machines as well as get to know the DFW Ferrari community. I just sold my 02 Vette to save a little as I just got married 4 months ago. I'm thinking of going to the Show tonight in Frisco at the Pizza place and maybe meeting a few of you guys. See some of you tonight. God Bless, Josh Ottmann Here's me with my former love.... http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/website%20pics/process%20misc%20pics/MeandmyBaby2.jpg
Thanks for the 2 of you that posted.... Well, I didn't make it to the GTG, my cousin came over, it was his birthday so we went out to see Borne Ultimatum. Pretty dang good movie too. I'll have to catch you guys next time. See ya, Josh
Nice Vette....About 8 months ago, wife and I were looking at some 04 Z06's. Something just made us pull back, luckily so. A few months later we found out we were pregnant, lol. Ended up getting a MazdaSpeed6. Enjoy your time here. It's a great resource for information and friends!
Welcome to the site! You missed a good showing of vehicles last night - But there will be more! Let us know if you need anything. Steve
All local events where horses hang out will usually be posted here, our more formal club events can be found here... www.fcadfw.com. Welcome to FerrariChat.
Welcome aboard. Good to see another enthusiast. What Ferrari are you dreaming about getting? My goal is an early Euro 308 GTB.
Forgive my Ferrari ignorance, I've been into the Corvette scene for about 10 years so I may not know all the Ferrari names just yet. As a kid I used to really love the old Magnum PI Ferrari (nice classic look), but years back when working valet at the Wyndom Anatole I got to drive a 355 which was pretty sweet. Now I think I really like the curves of the 360 and 430 alot. One of my all time favorites though would have to be the 575 Maranello.
Those are all great cars. You can't be born knowing all the different names and differences, but you'll learn them over time if you read what people say on this messageboard. For example, my preference for a European spec 308 is because the rubber bumpers on the front and rear are significantly smaller than the ones on the American version. This is a cool messageboard and a great community, even if you don't own a Ferrari yet (I don't).
All good choices from your list. Comes down to budget and wants. I've been meaning to make a decision tree for buying a used Ferrari, it would go something like this 1) What is your budget (applies to yearly maintenance tolerance too - figure 10% decreasing a little with increase in price)? A. $30k B. $50k C. $75k D. $100k E. $150k F. Unlimited 2) Any special requirements? A. None. B. No manual. C. Back seats. 3) General use? A. Everything. B. Shows. C. Town/track. D. Road trips/rallies. --- 1A - would limit you to 308 GT4, 308, and Mondial. 1B - would open up 328, 348, Mondial t. 1C - would open up TR, 355, and a very few vintage Ferraris. 2B - would limit you to the 400 class autos, Mondial shifters, 456 autos, and recent F1's. 2C - All 2+2's like vintage 250 GTE's, 330 2+2, and 365 2+2. Less vintage would be GT4, Mondial, 400 class, 456, and 612. 3B - Ferraris that highlight all the shows are anything vintage or unique (like Ferrari supercars or even 512 M). 3C - The 8's own the busy city and track. 3D - The 12's own the highways.
May I suggest that the budgetary questions will only be valid if they are filled out by your wife? BTW, welcome to the new member! You can now share with me in the Corvette Derision department. James (1995 ZR1 and 2004 Z06, just for our new guy's information)
And don't forget to factor in the wife tax, which in my case ran a cool 50% of the purchase price of the car. I'd estimate a 40 to 100 percent wife tax, in all seriousness.
Hey, our group is open to strange cars. Heck, a yellow vette even won Manager's Choice at our first Fall Rally And that's easily resolved. I think 4 months is still within the annulment window...
Welcome, I'm pretty new here too...i was a 'guest' for about a year and i got tired of not being able to see pictures so i joined. I would have joined a long time ago but i was reluctant since i didn't have a Ferrari, everyone here is cool about it though. I'm just here to learn all i can so that i'm very well educated when i can afford one...and to hang out with these guys b/c i love being around the cars. Anywho, i actually just bought a Vette...03 Z06. Hopefully i can show some discipline and not spend too much money on it.
Good luck, the mod bug will eat you alive. I know it did with me, lowered, vararm intake, borla exhaust, chromies, Z06 brakes, new chrome shift knob, matching ebrake, match pedals, engine dress up like crazy, lots and lots and lots of polish. I ended up changing my profession since I got so into detailing it and bought a few different buffers and now I detail full time professionally and am pretty good at it too. Been detailing for about 1 1/2 years now. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Josh
Hahaha, you are about 11 years late. I can't leave any of my cars alone. It's my fathers fault i guess. Anywho, it's a 03 Z06 with; vararam up to the fog light holes, kooks lt's, corsa full titanium custom fitted to the kooks and tuned...puts down about 405rwhp. It is also lowered on 18x10 and 18x13 ccw classics with toyo ra1's, mini tubbed and fender flares in the back, drm hood, lg radiator with oil cooler, drm brake ducts to the front rotors, sparco roadster seats, sparco steering wheel with a quick release, brey-krause harness bar and 5 point harnesses. I'm sure i forgetting something, but thats most of it. I have a TNT F2 nitrous kit from my formula that i'm going to put on it after a while, but I'm going to try to resist. I got into detailing (just my personal cars) about 6 years ago b/c of a local guy, I'm sure lots of people on here know him...Brian Hare. I met him several years ago and had him do my civic...yes, i wasted his Zaino on a civic. Well, I loved my car being that clean all the time, but i didn't have enough money to pay him to do it every week, so i got on autopia and started learning. Now i have at least $800 bucks worth of products in my cabinet and my cars are always very clean and swirl free.
You've done a few more mods then me..... I know who Brian is, I also know Scottwax, he's pretty good as well. I'm on Autopia alot, under Joshvette of course and the Corvetteforum, same name. I love Zaino, best stuff around for protection and durability. I'm thinking of doing some detail give aways at some of the up coming events. I think there's a show on the 25th and 28th that I may be at. Who's the best person to talk to about all that? Josh
Thanks, I'll get ahold of them and find out what I need to do to start getting my name out there more. Josh
