I got screwed today. In a one lane construction zone there was a big cardboard box in the road to my right, and a plastic construction cone deal to my left. I inched over to miss the box but it was to tight and I put an inch by inch scuff on my mirror. You can barely see it or feel it and no paint came off. My question is this:

What compound is best for getting this off? Like polishing or rubbing compound? Whats the best method. Thanks guys.

Capone...........If at all possible dont use a traditional "compound", as it will probably cut a but too much into the paint..........here's what I'd try.

#1 - A good wax. Often its just a surface mark that wax might just take out. (yep, your plain old carnuba stuff is great for cleaning). (Had a friggin beer can come off redneck-joes pickup nail the hood on my sons new GTO last week............had a black mark that did come off with wax)

#2 - If the wax does not work, and you need something more agressive yet save....... find some 3M Finesse It-II (or III). Its a super fine finish compound for swirl marks, or, I've used it after a wetsand 1500-2000 on paint. It is very safe for all paints. You can get that at a autobody supply place, or, even in a Walmart/WestMarine in the marine section for waxes...etc. EXCELLENT STUFF.

    Good luck ....

Use Meguiar's cleaner wax. It's got a fine abrasive and wax all in one. It'll work perfect.
