Possibly this has been posted before , but one of my crank dampers was showing signs of shifting . So I put it in the press and it came apart without even trying !!!
The vulcanising had completely let go on the weight side . From the pics you can see the state of the rubber inside the damper . It seems the weight is bounded to a ring and then this assembly is pressed onto front boss with the belt V groves .

Yikes, good thing you found it before you started spinning the motor in anger. I've seen the damage these things can do when they come apart in an engine bay. They are usually not pressed together, they are vulcanized in place. Raw rubber is placed between the pieces then baked together.

I know you are a looooong way away but there is a place, DamperDudes, that actually fixes these things. They are a small shop in a small town in northern California but they take in work from all over the world!

Thanks Rick , luckely this was one of my spares ! Possibly didn't explain myself properly . When I pushed it apart there was a steel ring left on the inner piece . I machined it off . I think it is easier to make a jig for the vulcanising if there is just a ring in the centre , then press this assembly together . You can see from the pic the gawling from pressing it on
