A rock hit my windshield at bullet-velocity this AM, leaving a pinky fingernail sized crater (including the spider webbing) in my Mondial t windshield. Damn!

Recommendations on good glass guys? I've searched fchat and it seems that a good glass guy is the way to go, not a regular bodyshop. And does anyone have a good line on competitively priced windshields? I checked www.ferraripartsexchange.com as a start. $1200.

BTW: Freakin' Boxer windshield: $2323. And apparently half the time they don't fit.

Buzz, I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. I hope you can get it sorted without too much trouble. I know that kind of thing is annoying to say the least....

    Good luck,

It's a UV/IR blocking film. It seems to be better at blocking heat with more transparence than Huber Optik ceramics. The Mondi is like the surface of Mercury in the summer from the waist up and arctic from the A/C from the waist down. You could practically generate electricity from it. As long as the glass needs attention, I thought I'd set up some summer protection.

Rock chips are a pain..Last Oct., my 70 E-type windshield gets it. Order a new one, arrives in three days. Open the huge box to find a big crack in the new windshield. The box had been stood on the end somewhere between NH and SC. Call to get another one sent and find out that it was the last tinted one they had. So instead of 3 days, it is 10 weeks. So three months later, I have a pristine correct tinted windshield. The second day I take the car out, three miles from the house, you guessed it, another rock. Lucky for me, it is tiny and no spidering, but I know its there. I pulled off the road, got mad then said screw it, I love driving this car, stuff happens. Another reason I do not want a 100 point show pig, just too much that can ruin your day.

Drive the car, enjoy it, and fix it when it breaks. If you cannot have fun with it, what is the point?

OK folks. I'm looking for a 1989 Mondi t windshield for better than $1500 and a good glass guy to install it. Precision Solar Film in N Bergen NJ is going to do the V-Kool film.

    Anyone? Bueller?

Same thing happened to my 355. Cost to replace it was $3,700, but the good news was my insurance paid for it and for some reason there was no deductible for a cracked windshield. Maybe worth looking into.

P.S. I also made sure they wouldn't raise my rates for the claim and they didn't

You da man. I checked and yes my ins will cover it. In fact, if I go to one of their authorized glass guys, I don't even have to file a claim!
After years (and years) of paying for insurance I've never used, this is a minor but heartfelt victory.

Glad I could help. But insist on using someone that has experience replacing Ferrari windshields, it's not the same as a Honda :)

I did and they agreed, and I didn't have to file a claim either. Just tell them the value of your car will decrease substainally if the windshield isn't put in correctly.

    Good luck!
