Ok, I officially hate my computer. A few days ago I was playing Counter Strike happily with np problems at all, and this hellish problem from a few months ago decided to come back from vacation. Basically the problem is that every few seconds (actually about a minute) the video and audio output of the computer locks up, and the last second of audio repeats for about ten seconds. This happens EVERY minute until I shut down, or reboot, and even that gives me only a few minues of uninterrupted usage. Its getting old fast, as I cant do much of anything (much less play a game or music) on this computer. Specs: P3 1000Mhz 384Mb RAM GeForce4 Mx440 64mb video card Crappy integrated sound card. 30GB HD Non-Working CDRW-15 drive (still conected though because its stuck) Any insight to this horrible problem with an otherwise fine (but old) computer? My Ideas are this: A) A bad PSU (it is a bit old). B) Overheating Video Card/ Mobo. C) God Hates me.
THANKS DOCTOR S! I cant buy another computer right now (A useable one, anyway), and if I did, it would NOT be a Macintosh. I still have nightmares... Anyways I just reinstalled some drivers, Ill let everyone know how that goes.
Nightmares are the reasons macs were invented. Want a problem free machine, buy a mac. simple as that.
Buy 7 macs? Check your computer's event log to see if a hardware component is causing the problem. I suspect you have an AGP video card and it's not receiving enough voltage. See if your BIOS allows you to increase the AGP voltage. Turn it up to 1.6volts (default is 1.5) and see if the problem goes away.
This pic always cracks me up... Ah, the good old days at Texas Tech's Gaston Hall, with fast computers, big network, and no shortage of CS players at any time of day or night. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dunno, macs arn't bullet proof either. My laptop just randomly sometimes doesn't start, and today it stoped detecting my wireless card..but 30 or so restarts later its back up and running...for the moment. Its a powerbook G4 btw. I figure PCs have more little problems here and there, but my experince with them allows me to fix almost anything with PCs, where with my mac i'm a total newbie and if something goes wrong i have to hope it starts working again.
