Yes, that TDF 550 is local to me and I decided to not investigate it. Even if the $40k or so of repairs was done, there is no telling what else might go bad if the car was not well cared for. The leaves, door dents, and the dash leather issues imply the car was parked outside either at home, or at work, or, worse yet, both.

I do appreciate the fact that the seller is doing their best to represent it as a car that needs some TLC.

Have you called on this blue one in FerarriAds.com?
It looks nice and the price seems okay.
I don't know anything about it though.

Hadn't seen it, so thanks for the pointer. I live in hot Phoenix, so I'm avoiding a black interior. And, contrary to my first thoughts, I am not partial to crema (there are 4 TDF/crema 550's for sale right now that I know of.) I almost bought a crema interior 18 months ago, but once I saw it I realized I couldn't keep it as clean as I would like (and neither did the previous owner.) Tan is the correct interior for me (or potentially grey.) Someone here on Fchat picked up a nice TDF/grey one I was interested in from Montecito Motors in California when I was in the middle of changing jobs last year. At least they had the good sense to drive it home back east and post about the trip here. Hat's off to them!

Anyway, definately kudos to the TDF/tan ebay seller for being honest. It saves me a trip. (This time I'm looking first before paying for a PPI.) It looks like someone that enjoys and has time for a project will get what they are looking for. I don't have the time right now, I just want a nice car at a realistic price.

That car is local and I have seen it. In fact, that car is the VIN that I posted to avoid.

Its trashed, cosmetic issues, Absolutely no service history, all the repairs listed plus probably some more.

    I would avoid.

Looks like a nice car. 1999 550 with 12.2k miles. Blue with tan/curio interior. Not sure if that is TDF Blue, but close to that color if it is not. Located near Chicago. Asking $109k. See it in person and get a PPI, if you go for it.

I noticed the Gearbox remove/repair listed and hadn't seen other box failures stated on Fchat.

Do you have to try hard to destroy one of these gearboxes (e.g. repeated hard launches?) or are they fragile and I'm just not aware of the failures?

    Thank you

Thanks for the pointer, but it is NART blue. Should be a good car for someone. Nart = highlights green, TDF = highlights purple.

well it looks like it will go for about60k.

That car looks just like my car, except the condition is crap.

Interior color is little different, though.. what a shame...

    Hi, (I am new here)

I have not heard of 550-gearbox problems among friends, but during a long term test noted by the EVO magazine, the gearbox had to be replaced (see Nov issue 2005). Good magazine by the way

    See http://www.evo.co.uk/search/?words=550&ss=51
