CUP: Danica Just Says No To Bernie

interesting read by the journalists but it seems they read that bernie is summarily impressed with the way danica has taken nascar by storm and thus would like to see her racing in f-1 where she would clearly be very competitive!

i think danica would do it if she could secure a ride w/ a top team!!!

So, a reporter sticks a microphone in front of Bernie (which we all
know he can't resist), asks him a question about Danica, his reply is
"She has everything a driver needs for F1" and this is somehow
interpreted as an open invitation for her to join the F1 ranks?

For his part, Bernie likely answers this question about potential
F1 drivers on a daily basis and this is his standard reply.

Amazing how Bernie utters eight little words and Danica's PR
    twists them.

    I feel like highlighting this.

^ This sums up why I don't like her as a driver. There are a multitude of reasons why I don't like her as a person but I don't care to go into that on this forum.

Kimi took a risk and came out and raced in NASCAR. It could of been a flop, but he came out and raced and did well, and if he hadn't, I don't think any of us would of thought less of Kimi. NASCAR and F1 are both tough, but with different skill sets. Even if Kimi didn't do well when he first drove a NASCAR, I'd of still respected him. The fact that he pulled off what he did in his first two NASCAR starts is amazing, small wonder he joined a F1 team that didn't have a good track record at the time, and yet was on podiums, and winning races.

Jeff Gordan jumped into a F1 car, Tony Stewart jumped into one.

When she first was signed into JR's nationwide car, they schedule her to come out and run at my local indoor kart track's Monday night race league, but when she found out, she said hell no, cancel it. I'd of had far more respect for her if she'd of showed up and barely stayed on the lead lap, then her not showing up at all.

Don't forget the two currently active Cup drivers with actual F1 results... one of which who claims it's easier to set up an F1 car, because you get repeatable results every time, and harder to drive a Cup car, because you don't.

Danica wouldn't be able to hang in F1, she's too used to being the prettiest one on the grid.

    This is sad, really sad...

You guys DESTROY Danica because she doesn't feel the need to run an F1 car, and she 'canceled' driving at some go-kart track. Have you ever thought maybe she didn't know anything about having to show up and some go-kart track? Guess what - drivers cancel out of events ALL THE TIME, but because it's Danica, you roast her. Maybe you don't know the true circumstances of the whole thing? That would be my guess.

Listen, she isn't the most talented person out there, she's not alone in that respect, she isn't the most personable person out there, she's not alone there either (read: Busch brothers, etc.), and she no-showed your event - waaa - Earnhardt Jr. was notorious for canceling out of stuff, but nobody cares.

I do feel sorry for her - she's like the Tiger Woods of racing - nobody (the press) seems to care about anyone but her. The results usually read something like this:
    1) Johnson, 2) Kahne, 3) Kyle Busch, 4) Mark Martin, 35) Patrick.
Just like in golf, they list the top-5, and then where Tiger is, be it 12th, 35th, 49th.

I don't think it's fair - Danica didn't ask for this, it's a product of the PRESS - they choose to make it a story, not her.

Does anyone here understand this? It's doubtful.

PS - what if Bernie said those 8 words about ANY driver in nascar? Would you roast them too if they declined? I doubt it.

    Think about this though --

Let's say Marussia hired her. She'd bring big buck sponsorship money for the team and no one would expert her to do much there.

She could make a ton of money and be in international star. Not a bad idea if you ask me.

that's what wrong with racing at pretty much all levels now...the drivers supply of cash is more important than his/her supply of talent.

eventually fans will realize that hacks with cash are the norm in "pro" series and stop watching .

It's an insult to compare Danica to Tiger. Tiger at one point was untouchable in golf. Danica has not nearly the amount if wins nor has changed her sport as Tiger has.

Fair statement based on results and talent. I'm not a Danica basher - I had the opp to race an open wheel car and it's hard. She's won at the low levels and could win more at the top levels. She's talented, but so are a lot of others at the top.

From a PR perspective, however, it's a slam dunk. For an American race, I think having her would bring much more mainstream media attention.

    Never going to happen though.

I understand your point perfectly. However, several people in this thread think you were comparing Danica's abilities to Tiger and not how they each capture the attention of the press no matter who else is out doing them on the track or course. Its that failure to grasp the true meaning and " twisting " it into a negative on Danica is what I find entertaining to read here. :)

And even if Danica had a go at F1 and failed. So what!!! I'd love to see her in F1.

In life, the only people who have failed, are those who have tried something.

I beg to differ about her success..........Danica Patrick - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One win isn't going to cut it when trying to compete in F1. You need a lot more than money and she doesn't have it. If she did......she would already be there. F1 drivers have a very short life span in F1. If your not winning...your gone!!
