i was up there yesterday, killing some time, and they were out there working on this car, which wouldn't start. they were talking about a bad distributor, yet no mention of anything of the sort in the listing. i just thought i'd pass this along and give a fair warning.

That's wierd. A 2V 308 distributor has no function except to act as a rotor stand. There are no guts inside it...

Got to be something else, then.

I have no interest in this car but I wouldn't be too concerned about what you overheard. This certainly wouldn't be the first time that a dealer had a car with a "no-start" problem. It is just something they will have to fix before anyone is likely to want it. The distributor doesn't seem a likely suspect but who really knows, could just be a loose wire.

beats me, regardless it was having starting problems, just cranking, not turning over. this dealer has had quite a few problems in the past.

Thats because you have to leave your feedback at the dealership before you leave and realize you got suckered into buying a piece of ****.

among other things, yes. They have had 24 complaints to the BBB in the last 36 months, are regulars in the "civil suits" section of the local business journal, and so forth. It is absolutely amazing that they have managed to stay in business as long as they have with a local and national reputation like that.

these guys are notorious for not giving out the tools and books that come with cars, and then will come up with some excuse like they lost them when the customer asks. gordo was telling me about one of their lawsuits, with a reputable local dealer acting as plaintiff against them.

call it my ignorance, but what value is there to keeping books of a car you do not own anymore? I understand there could be some aftermarket for the tools (not nice) but is there a market for somebody else's books?

They're for sale on Ebay all the time. I suppose if they can squeeze a few more bucks out of the sale by "parting it out", they will.

I don't know anything about this company other than they never called me back when I had questions about a 308. Sounds like it's for the better anyway. Ended up finding mine from an individual in Miami.

I have a friend who went out to eat with one of his lawyer buddies. They met up at a nice restaurant downtown and were going to meet up with a few other people. One of the friends brought Daniel Schmitt. Dan introduced himself to the lawyer and the lawyer says "oh hey, i'm in the process of suing you right now. You need to leave."
