Yes, many many small screws. Wait until you have to drain the coolant and remove the AC refrigerant to access the one screw in the middle under the windshield. Well, on 458s anyway. Maybe they changed it on 296s. It is a lot of work. Best of luck to you. Note and bags help a lot, take pictures, note any unused connection. The NIT can have connections that are not used on some cars.
Also curious why? This is not a simple job, what happened that this is not being done under warranty?
I have removed dash in Portofino (due to airbag deployment). It's quite straight forward, except for the fact that the windshield needs to be removed to access screws right under it at the edge. This thread made me curious whether 458, 488 or 296 are that different...
