    I've to replace the dashboard leather as it's shrunk from having been exposed to too much sunshine. The car is a 412 modelyear 1988, color black, interior black. Now to my question, where does one get the leather? I've got a skilled craftsman, non automotive, who can do it.

    I can not answer your specific question but I have one of my own very related to yours.

    Is the piece that needs work the main horizontal piece that is the full width of the car and located behind a piece with the defroster outlets? If so, have you figured out the procedure to remove that piece to work on it?

    My car is '84 400i, but I suspect the pieces are similar as well as the installation. Mine has a little shrinkage and the right craftsman can easily stretch mine to refit the one edge that has pulled loose without tearing.
