    Dear F Chatters,

My dash is shrinking, and what I gather from reading various threads on dashboard solutions, there is not other way to fixing it than taking the dash out and re-trimming the leather, $3500 and roughly 7-10 days down time on my car.

I'm planning to schedule a time to do this, in the meantime I cannot stand looking at my dash, it's not horrible, but my eyes just go to the ripples on my dash every time I'm driving, I'm like a road hazard, worse than a lady driving while checking her makeup every 10-20s.

Can someone please help me? I need a temporary dash cover, leather or alacantra with read stitching, custom made for a 360. I remember a thread where someone mentioned getting it done in Houston, but I cannot find it anymore.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Mallick

Speaking of which -- is there a way to prevent shrinkage in general on the 360 or 355 vehicles? Seems to be a common problem on both...

I'd like to know this too. Mine has a few very small bubbles but when it sits out in the sun for about 10 minutes they deflate into the dashboard and flatten out.

I had my windshield tinted with a UV film that has almost no color.

How often do you treat the leather? I believe the owners manual even states that it should be done a few times a year! Add that neglect to a harsh environment and that's how we get into these situations.

I got the car like it is, defroster vents post broken, and leather stretched. I believe it's a combination of heat and UV rays, and the only solution is to protect the dash from direct sunlight and keep it hydrated/rejuvenated all the time, esp in places like Texas where it gets really hot, even in the shade.

I'll be interested to know if someone actually, treated the leather every month and then too got into trouble. In that case, it's prudent that treating the leather and keeping it hydrated is not enough and we have to protect it all the time from direct sunlight. Windshield cover may look ugly, some people mentioned applying a layer of UV coating on the dash while parking outside in the sun, and lastly dash covers.

Personal opinion, dash cover maybe the least ugliest of them all, if properly done with matching leather and stitching or maybe even alacantra or ultra-suede. It can keep out the sunlight but the interior still gets hot if parked outside without a windshield cover, and non-hydrated leather may shrink. And we all know it's an expensive affair to fix it.

So, If I can bring back the post to my original question :D, does anyone have an idea where I get my hands on a very good quality dash cover? Has anyone got himself a custom made one? If yes, can you please post some pics of it?

    Regards,

    Mallick

Cost estimate on it? And since then, you have had no worries? Tinting with no color, doesn't cut-out the heat aspect of the problem, no? Do you treat the leather often?

I do treat my leather and yes the tint does keep down the heat. Its called air blue 80 and I do it to all my cars with long raked windshields. Keeps the heat off of me while driving as well.

Look under the ferrari parts forum. There's a guy selling something similar for a 308 by cover craft. Might be a lead

I'm thinking Jim is looking for a 'cover' to protect his dash/cover shrinkage vs a full re-upholstered dash?

This Canadian Co does that (no affiliation)

I've been meaning to contact them to see if they're able to do one for my car, but never got the time.

Thanks. I actually ordered one from Luxuscarmats. They cancelled my order and said they don’t actually do them for Ferraris . (Even though they list them on their website).

If you just want to cover it, cutting some felt to cover the flat part and finding a way to fix it in place would be a cheap option that would cover most of the dash.
