I originally bought the dash mat for the 308 because of the glare off the instrument pod. I never was really happy with the way it looked, and folks would ask if my dash was tore up because of the mat. So I used a seam ripper to extract the pod cover from the rest of the dash cover. I then secured the pod cover to the dash. Now, no more glare and I have my nice looking dash to look at.

Where did you get the dash mat??? Interesting idea just covering the instrument pod, as that is the source of most of the glare.

i got that dash mat years ago off ebay i think. even to fab up the pod cover from scratch couldnt be all that hard - even if you have the original as a template, or not.

Thought of doing something like this with a piece of alcantara.

    Great post! Thanks!

I like the minimal look you have. Here in TX the sun can burn out dashes fast, and I don't mind the full cover on mine at all.

Best fix for glare off the dash is a good pair of polarized lens sunglasses. I purchased a pair of Serengeti polarized lenses and the glare instantly disappears when you put them on. This also allows you to keep the dash looking as it should, but what ever method allows you to see the road ahead is vital I believe.
    Cheers

Somewhere in the archives I did something similiar.
I didn't want to cover the whole dash.
I cut a shape out of paper of the top of the pod., then transferred it to black felt.
I didn't have to sew the felt, just drape it over the pod.
pressed three black sticky-back Velcro dots (from Staples) to hold it down on the front of the pod. It's been there for years and works perfectly.
I did have to replace the dots a year ago when I leatheriqued the dash.

As black, it's flat, there is no glare, it's not very visible, can be easily removed to shake off the dust
and it can be made for a buck.
